Squeal! Off to Paris on Saturday. Anything I need to look for?

Scarves and how they tie one one. A Parisian woman can wear battered jeans and tee and look instantly chic with a few twists of a scarf. I remember stopping a nice lady on the street and asking her to teach me how she tied one. She was both gracious and amused. We ended up at her favorite Patisserie eating pastry and drinking chocolat. There are some resale shops there that sell vintage designer goods. Mostly tiny sizes-my friend got a Chanel jacket for around $300. She then brought it to Chanel in the US who replaced the lining for her (for more than what she paid for the jacket). I cant remember the name of the store though.

Awesome! We just got back from Paris and I absolutely loved it. I didn't do any shopping (no time left from sightseeing), but I thought the best souvenir shops were in the Montmartre area. They have super cute and very girly Paris stationary, coin purses, and other sorts of accessories in that neighborhood.

If you are near St. Germain, check out the area around the rue Cherche-Midi for fun shopping at a variety of price points. Great unique bag and shoe shops. Fun neighborhood to wander for awhile, grab a coffee or glass of wine, etc. Have fun!

There's a shop across the river from Notre Dame that sells second hand high end handbags, Celine, Chanel, LV and others. Tiny, on the street, it looks so interesting but was closed the day I was sightseeing!! Enjoy.

Have a great trip! I'm not a follower of high-end brands really, but I bought one of my favorite items of clothing while in Paris in 2010 -- a Noa Noa skirt from Galeries Lafayette.

Visit a perfume shop ! Guerlain and Serge Lutens both have the flagship stores in Paris! (Sigh..)Just visiting one and smelling different things would be fun.

I'm such a dork that these types of blog posts make me want to go to France more than pictures of the scenery. There's just something so connected about the little everyday things people in a place use.

We were in Paris 3 wks ago and squeezed in some shopping. We shopped
a drugstore for toiletries that I had seen recommended on blogs
a grocery store for cookies, mints in cool tins, herb mixes and salt
Monoprix (like Target, some locations are much larger than the one on the Champs Elysees we visited) for knit tops, accessories, toiletries
BHV (Bazaar de l'Hotel Ville) for just about anything; in previous years I have bought kitchen towels, books, a towel rack there; choose the Paris department store that most appeals to you or that is best located; most if not all have lunch places that offer quick service; we ran through the clothing depts (men's clothes are in a separate bldg), were tempted by some scarves and by all the fabulous lighting fixtures and hardware; I didn't buy anything but my sis made several purchases; she scored some gorgeous discontinued towels and a marriage proposal in the Missoni bed and bath shop!

Oh my- where to start!
I go to Paris a lot and my list of things to bring home keeps getting longer and longer.
For clothes, my favorite store is COS, which is not actually French, but Swedish. I love almost everything they have! For shoes I always seem to have good luck at Minelli.

Don't miss Galeries Lafayette department store, if only to gawk at the gorgeous stained glass dome and to go up to the rooftop observation deck for a great view of the city. It's a madhouse, but a great place for one-stop shopping.

I bring back lots of stuff from the grocery- Monoprix is great and has locations all over. Herbal teas -my favorite is Verveine Menthe flavor, Maille mustard, Harissa, Piment d'Espelette, the most wonderful basil and thyme-scented liquid dish soap by Maison Verte, cheap store-brand shampoos with nice scents.

The Grand Epicerie food hall at the Bon Marché department store is so much fun for browsing and to find all sorts of food goodies.

From the pharmacy: Caudalie shower gel, also Roger & Gallet shower gels and hand soaps. Voltaren gel to apply for aches and pains, La Roche-Posay sunscreen.
