I loved Suz's and Ornella's WIW's where they took color combos from their natural environment. So for spring/summer one idea would look around you and see what colors and textures you are really drawn to as the weather and sky begins to change, and the light and sunrises/sunsets do too. The ocean changes a lot seasonally.

I know I like mossy greens during rainy autumns, but pale lilac when crocuses start appearing in yards (I have to remember how great the deep orange stamens look and try that combo sometime). I also get into man made textures in cities - graffiti prints, peeling paint layers, straight lines and sharp angles.

Great idea, rabbit! I'm in Mo's boat...not sure what to do. I have some white skinnies that I will definitely be wearing (instead of the cream ones), but I look horrible in pastels. Lavender is probably the best of the lot, but I don't see much lavender anywhere for some reason. I also want to try citron and coral, but I can never find the right shade, or if I do, the fit of the garment is off. Argh!

I like the navy and striped top option best, myself!

I'm so with you. Don't do florals and don't do pastels. Wandered the stores aimlessly finding nothing appealing yet. And no radiant orchid in sight. And we're already in the 70s and 80s. Sigh. My fall back is wearing striped, casual dresses/tops or white bottoms with everything and anything, though I finally found some long, wide-leg linen pants that I'm hoping will become my go-to new silhouette. Like someone previously mentioned, I'm thinking either CA-beach laid-back casual (Athleta catalog-like), maybe, or else the EF asymmetrical-flowy dress aesthetic? Need to study Angie's link again and figure out how to adapt those looks to extreme heat, too. This is hard!

As others have mentioned, nautical with navy and white or cream reappears nearly every spring. I like to do white jeans with a navy flowing top

I hadn't considered the nautical angle, perhaps because it is as antithesis to my style as the related preppy! But you gals go rock it
I'm enjoying the idea of California casual, bordering on beach, resortish, sporty, effortless. Breeze in your hair and toes in the sand kind of look. My BF shorts would be cornerstone for this, I'd think. And the ever elusive maxi I just can't seem to find the right version of. Sigh. lol

This year it's not all about pastels and I see very few flowers for spring here. It's not all about ladylike style, in fact I see so many men-inspired options, so many voluminous styles.

Here in the Uk Spring seems far away. It's raincoat and Wellies time after constant RAIN.

I am not a lover of pastel shades . Bright colours suit me better. I do love black and white: plain, striped, and particularly spotted garments.Yesterday visiting friends for lunch I wore a b/w spotted skirt, white blouse and jade green cardigan. with black shoes and the ubiquitous black raincoat, carried!! Unusually it was a bright, "sunny" day.

All shades of green look good in Spring, I think.

Why not keep pastel shades to accessories? Bangles and beads? Even sandals. Floral-patterned bags look good also.
