Yesterday I took half the day off to browse the spring collections. I loved last year's vibrant colours. This year I see a lot of 70's and 90's inspired style. A lot of JFE. Much fun and brought forth sentimental feelings and memories from my teenage and student life in the 90's. I do miss a bit more of the ladylike 50's and 60's fashion, but each season has it's fun.
Sorry for the pic quality and for not having pics of the pieces when worn. I just forgot and now I don't have a proper mirror until the weekend.
These are the pieces I bought.
-cream cardi. Fine knit viscose fabrics with a bit of shine to it. I think this will become one of those pieces that you can rely on and will go with almost anything. I like that it us very simple, not flimsy and with just a small chain instead of buttons.
- striped tank top. Love the fresh blue colour. Goes well with skirts and as a layering top, not good with jeans (muffin top)
- linen dress. The bluegreen colour reminds me about the sea. Easy, breezy and comfy with pockets. Great MOTG dress and casual work days. Hides tummy area, but still has shape to it.
I'm at ease with linen creasing in trousers, so hopefully I'll feel the same with this dress because I won't be ironing. For work I'll probably wear dresser shoes with a low heel.
This dress will replace a 'mistake' dress (I try to not be so hard on myself with the shopping errors I do)
- a line, sturdy denim skirt. Hits just below the knee. I love the 70's vibe. Feels so sturdy and great on. It's simple, yet eye-catching style, though a bit wide/full for my petite frame, but the SA said it would become softer and drape better when wearing it. I thought it was JFE in store, especially styled with the striped tank top, cream cardi and white sneaks. Hopefully my style radar was in place.
- white pants. This is crazy, but I liked them (or the idea) in store. They are probably supposed to be cropped, but hits me just below the ancle bone(?).
I think they are as opaque as white trousers can be. I like them better than all the white jeans I've tried on because the trousers don't cling that much to my thighs and calves. The SA said (again) that they would ease and then just skim the legs. I need styling inspiration here.
ETA: can I wear black/dark shoes with the white pants? Will black shoes shorten my leg line? Black bookends my hair and is often my first choice, even for summer.
