So has anyone started to put together a spring shopping list yet?

I have a few things on my list - a light weight leather jacket in a "new to me" color, and once again, the perfect white jeans (I have these on EVERY spring/summer). More to ponder yet and of course, we still have a ton of snow and cold weather to get through here.

The other item I've been toying with is a pastel (light blue or light lilac) suit that I can wear to work as a suit and break up as separate pieces.

Generally speaking, what would you think of something like the pic below for me?

I think a suit in a fun color is a great idea for you!
I have black shorts (also forever on my spring lists, sigh) and a romper. I'd tried a romper in 2012 and it was close but not quite.

I keep changing my spring list, or at least tweeking it as I see more new spring things, but currently it is 2 pairs of dressier sandals, a pair of the BIRKIES, a print bomber jacket and a white jean jacket. On the maybe list is a navy blazer, and a nice white top of some sort.

I think a pastel suit would be really fun for you!

Right now the only thing on my list is some flat booties. All of my current booties are heeled. Possibly black (or ink blue if I could find it) with gold hardware. I would love a cutout style like the JC Everly but my particular foot issues make that difficult - I would need something with only a partial cutout so I could wear an orthotic and footies.

And maybe a floral jacket, but that is a HEWI that I've been looking for for a while. I am picky about my floral prints.

I think a suit in a pretty pastel would be lovely for you.

On my list for spring/summer are casual wear items that are a bit more stylish than a basic cotton top. And a few things for evening that are slightly more dressy yet still cool and comfortable as our summers are quite hot. I'm thinking dresses might be a good option but I'm not sure yet.

Should I admit that I've already bought a few things for spring/summer?

I got a very lightweight black and white colorblocked sweater, an EF cotton top in a pretty shade of blue, an EF linen sweater in taupe and white, an EF long asymetrical tank in gold/black, black cut out booties/sandals and black and white cage sandals. I think that's it

That suit is fab! I have a short to-make list and top of it is a blazer in a pale stony/grey colour. I already have the fabric. I've also got cream denim for a pair of jeans. Oh, and a new white or cream handbag.

Mo - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you find your romper this year. They seem to be a little more mainstream now and hopefully that will translate into more options for you to check out.

always trying - a navy blazer would be great! So versatile with many things and looks so crisp with white.

Diana - I'm seeing a lot of cut out booties in catalogues and websites these days. There's GOT to be a pair that will work for your feet

ramya - love the idea of cognac booties for you. I love the richness of that color.

Susie - I'm seeing quite a few EF pieces for you in your new purchase list. Don't you love the lightness and fabrics for the warmer weather? I'm thinking of checking out some of her linen tees for the heat - if and when it arrives - lol!

Diana - YES YES YES to the cream or white handbag. I absolutely love mine - so versatile.

Well I'm glad you all like the suit 'cause I just bought it! It's brand new on eBay, the seller provided very detailed measurements in my inquiry, and there's a fully refundable return policy. Nothing to lose - plus she accepted my very reasonable offer. Fingers crossed!

That suit looks gorgeous! What is the maker? I hope it works out!

Here's my provisional list so far:

Casual sandal — wedge, comfortable, for wearing on work at home days with shorts and in town

White sandal or shoe

Another point toe pump/ shoe, possibly the nude Okalas

Patterned or otherwise “fun” jacket (I'll probably "trade in" the floral jacket from last year for this piece)

Baggy shorts

Simple, mostly solid tops that match or tone with bottoms — navy or ink, in particular, but also taupe, grey, cream or white

A pastel or light bag.

HEWI: a suit

Oh. And despite the fact that I have this list, guess what I just did? Ordered that cat print silk shirt from J. Crew that Diana alerted me to. There go some of my shopping $$ for sure. But I am consoling myself that at least it fulfills another goal not explicitly stated on the list but there anyway -- for something in pale blue or pale pink.

My list isn't necessarily for spring, just stuff that I'm currently shopping for. I'm on a severely limited budget lately so this is helping me stay focused:

Shirt dress - I have one on order from Kohl's. I'm picky about the length and button placement so this is not an easy item.
New black booties - not suede. I found the perfect ones at Kohl's but they don't have them in my size (sniff, sniff)
grey booties
flats with an ankle strap, preferably in a fun color
A lace shirt - I loved the one I had when pregnant and want something similar
Cross-body bag in an interesting color and shape
Maybe a new swimsuit - I have a bunch of bikinis but I'm not sure any will fit my current bosom. I'm not interested in trying them on right now though (too cold) so I'm not sure of this yet. We're definitely going to Mexico this summer for a family vacation (and when I say family, I mean grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews-in-law, etc) so I have to have a swimsuit that fits.

I think the suit is a fun idea! I do wonder, since suits are hard to fit anyway, do you love pastels enough to rock pastel pants long-term (I don't recall you wearing much pastel at all)? If you have a hard time finding the perfect suit, a pastel blazer might do the trick, too.

Well.... truthfully, I've finished my spring shopping. o_0 In my defense, what counts as spring weather lasts a long time and started in late December. Anyway, these were the refreshers (not listing replacements of tattered or HEWIs since those weren't specific to refreshing for '14):

pastel cat bag
black heeled sandals
linen jogger pants
cream & white jeans
sparkly booties
pointy leopard booties
pastel gray photo tee from the Rack

The goal was mainly to get in on the whiteout, pastel, track pant, and shoe trends.

My list is very small since I've put myself on a shopping freeze for the next few months. The only items on my list are things that I need to replace at this point.

Flat sandals
Skinny jeans in a lighter denim
White button down shirt
Gingham print button down shirt

Skintone/tan sandals - flat-ish, feminine & smart casual. Getting to be a HEWI.
Autumn pink/salmon top with feminine details, also a HEWI.

Suz - the suit is Anne Klein and is a petite size. If it doesn't work, all I'm out is the $10 in shipping. LOL - I knew you'd order the cat shirt Is your suit hunt progressing at all?

Sara - good luck in particular with finding grey booties. They seem to be a tough item to find.

Rae - truthfully, I'm not sure I've EVER worn pastels! If the suit fits, I'm not really looking for long term wear - probably just for spring/summer this year. That's why I was pleased with finding this new at such a good price. I'm looking at this addition to my wardrobe as something fun, experimental and pushing me out of my comfort zone. You have made some absolutely brilliant purchases lately.

Since we are fessing up to already ordered spring stuff I got: 1 strappy black hi/low dress, 2 tops - a racerback cowl white tank and bright berry button front, and 2 shoes - studded black toe ring sandals and Toms type cream slip ons.

Spring list? Ha... already got a good half or three quarters of it purchased 3 drapey tops, 3 layering tanks, 2 short sleeve Ts, a white cotton open weave oversized sweater, 2 pr sandals i havent rec'd yet but hope they will be comfy. Gah, I guess i am getting ahead of myself here!

Well, I think this suit is lovely and I do hope it works!

My hunt is so far going nowhere. I need to try on in person and it's just so difficult. I will probably allow the "suit" idea to languish perhaps in favour of a pastel jacket for the spring. But who knows. It's early days yet in the season.

Spring list? I can't even remember what is in my spring closet

I do know I need a bathing suit. A good one. So I can take DD swimming this summer without fretting about what I am going to wear. AND I am making myself buy it during prim swimsuit season rather than when I can actually wear it so I will get a good one.

I'm waiting for a number of things to be marked down at Nordies:

Washable navy blazer
Beige skirt to replace one that is too big
Light wash jeans
Cream pants/jeans (BR ones to be delivered today)
Drapey blouse in S/S color
White short sleeve T (have none)

My shopping is (again!) getting ahead of my budget. Next March during Triple Point Days, I will have to decide whether I bite the bullet and order at full price, or if I play chicken on markdowns and availability in my size.

Love the idea of a pastel suit, and love leather jackets (you rock them!) and the perfect white jeans are out there for you, I'm sure!

On my list are pastel blue (just about anything), a long-enough chambray shirt, white booties, nude shoes, cobalt long shorts (my capris from last year are shot)... I'm not sure what else, but I doubt I'll stop there, ha!

That suit will be great for work Shannon! I hope it fits and flatters because it would be a great addition to your S/S wardrobe.

Eeep, I've been shopping for Spring clothes already too. We had an unseasonably warm January, so it was fun to try on clothes. They can't put the Spring merch. out soon enough for me. I usually burn through my money before all the good stuff comes out. I'm trying to wait though!

I'm shopping my closet, but if I weren't I know I would be looking for these HEWIs:
* dressy, drapey pants
* anything in a sky blue (as opposed to powder blue which is not my shade)
* replacement wedge heels as my old faves are wearing out (NOOOOO!)
* very dressy, maximum comfort, low-heeled shoes

... and these NEW lusts:
* pink suede booties
* carnation pink top
* vivid lavender top
* a large scarf in a floral print
and THIS little number (see photo) from Sundance

Can't wait to see that suit on you. Angie has been mentioning a pastel suit since last year, and I would love one also. It has a 70s-80s vibe that is very fresh now.

The light suit looks like it could be a workhorse for you, Shannon. I hope that it's a good fit. Our springs are so short to sometimes be non-existent, so I will be shopping my closet unless something really irresistible comes along. I'd like low heeled white pumps and some radiant orchid items and citron, especially if they show up as linen tees. Those can be for summer too.

First time ever the list hasn't been longer than me lol.

Shannon I like the idea of the light/pastel coloured suit but I think it's going to be a matter of seeing it on you. My eye is very attuned to darker tones so Im not sure. Personally I would tire of light pastel tones much quicker than darker tones so I would simply ask if you think this would be a long term addition to your closet? I get that being able to wear as separates would potentially extend the suit's life span:)

Love the idea of the suit & would like to see it on you. As much as I love lighter colours they are always less versatile for me because I have to think about what I'll be doing before wearing them - I'm not as ladylike as Angie

My list is small too:
THE ink/navy pants suit
& lots of knitwear that isn't wool (I need to stock up while it is trending).
If we have a lot of blue available I will probably splurge on my essentials to get them while I can

Light blue, light pink and white tops with drape or crossover design that can be worn alone. I have lots of long shorts so it is just a question of trying them on and making sure the essentials are still functional.
