Spring Leather Jacket - Colour Question

In my post yesterday about trying on different leather jackets (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....et-options) this blue jacket stood out as a possible contender http://www.danier.com/leather-.....colour=411|6dacca&mc=yes (please click on the blue circle for the correct colour).

I also tried on this purple one which I really liked http://www.danier.com/leather-.....colour=698|78558f&mc=yes. They did not have the purple one in my size (the size I tried on was a bit too small) but is available on their website so I could order it to try.

My question is one of colour - purple is a great colour for me but I'm wondering if that jacket reads spring at all? Is the blue more spring like?

Purple is definitely a spring color, I mean flowers are purple right and they equal spring to me. But I guess traditionally it's not really a spring-like color. The blues are definitely spring like. However, what I have noticed from my shopping habits, if you don't think you'd wear the blue as much even if you want to convey spring, would it be something you should get? However, if you imagine many outfits with the blue, why not try something new? White pants + blue jacket? HOT!

Anyhow, apparently most people don't think that navy is a very spring color either but Gucci and even Anne Fontaine seems to be featuring it with soft pink as a spring combo.

To me, this blue, which is gorgeous, is definitely more spring-like than that purple. If the purple was in a lighter shade than it would be more spring-y. On the other hand, I have personally decided to declare my favorite colors season-less, and purple is that color for me. So at the end it is a ll a matter of your personal preference, whichever color will put more spring in your step is the one!

I like both the purple and the blue and think they would work well for spring. I followed the link to the previous thread (missed it while out appliance shopping) and although I am not a huge yellow fan, I LOVE the yellow. Nothing says spring like yellow and it would work so very well with B&W which you favor.

I think both colours : purple and blue could definately work for spring. I am so biased here though as I love the blue, especially the first one. I might have to go and try it on this week although it looks long in the torso and I am fairly short.

Hi, I stick with "my colors" year round. It's fun to add some lights and brights in the spring, but my core colors are jewel tones, and that will not change.
Sorry I can't get the blue to work so it's hard for me to comment on it.
Are these jackets petite friendly?

Dianthus - I think you must be in my head this morning I'll be honest here - I fell HARD for the yellow jacket - LOVED IT! In fact, I kept putting it back on the whole time I was in Danier. Even the SA said "you love this jacket - look at your smile". But I kept wondering what I'd pair it with. I don't want to look like a bumblebee pairing it with black and in looking at the rest of my wardrobe, I'm just not sure it is versatile enough.

Glory & Rita - these jackets are actually not bad on my short torso at all. I find certain styles of Danier's jackets can work for me. The purple jacket is shorter overall and does nip in at the waist in the back a bit nicer than the blue. The blue (and the yellow) is a different style and is a bit longer overall but still good.

I think both colors are well suited to spring. Look at MaryK in her purple jacket and raisin skirt. It looks very spring-like to me I don't think you could go wrong with either! I'm kind of in the same boat as you--on the fence about the green jacket--only I'm wondering whether that shade of green will date. Your blue and purple jackets look more timeless to me.

I am not a good person to ask as I don't change colors by seasons (if you can call them that here). However, don't you have a purple leather jacket? I'd go with a blue for you!

Don't you already have a purple letaher jacket? I think it is a darker shade but still in the same family, right?

I'm another who doesn't think you should wear certain colors just because it is a particular season, so I say go for the one that makes your heart sing! If you want it to be more springlike just pair it with some white.

I am not sure why but turquoise always screams Summer to me along with yellow. Am I dreaming or you have a purple leather jacket already?

Out of the two, I like the second style better for you as it is more cropped. I think that particular length would look really good on you. Out of the two color choices I choose turquoise. Most people wear all colors all year long.

The purple is definitely spring appropriate, just think of it with citron, powder blue or leaf green accents transitioning into fall with a dose of gold and chocolate brown.

I also think this jacket is different enough from your more ornate purple leather jacket to not be a duplicate.

But I'm now going to check out the yellow!

Well aren't you all a bunch of smarty pants (with good memories)! Yes, I do have a purple leather jacket already - my more ornate one, that is more of a plum/mauve colour but still in the purple family. I actually haven't worn it much this year...mmmmm...wonder why that is.

Anyway, I think I'm leaning towards either the turquoise or the yellow of the first style. And I think I can wear yellow, and love it paired with white as per the photo below.

More thinking to do...hope I'm not driving you all nuts!!!

Blue or yellow would Spring-ify whatever you wear the jacket over. Purple would compliment Spring colors, but would not be inherently Spring-y, because it still is a pretty dark shade.

Personally, I think you would get more use out of the yellow than the blue... it just seems more harmonious with your blacks, optic whites, oranges, cognacs, and grays when I picture it in my mind. I don't feel like I see you in many cool brights like turquoise.

If it had been a brighter yellow, then the bumble bee issues would be a factor (although we often use nature to inspire color schemes) but this is a soft butter yellow. I think it is lovely and very close to neutral.

Yellow also looks good on you. I think the hair color works with it because grey and yellow are a perfect pairing in my opinion.

Kalli, I seem to recall that navy blue is or was a traditional spring color. I also think of it as a summer color when it is combined with white, yellow, or red. I think it's all those nautical themed collections that make me think that.

Ultimately it's the color you like best that counts. Because your happy look or color is what it is. But I like the turqoise better than the yellow. It seems like a better color for your coloring though we've not seen a comparison. The yellow to me reminds me of utility worker jackets and firemen. It totally dominates the outfit, although that is what you might want. I think turquoise is springy and more versatile. It can go with warm or cool colors. You can add bits of yellow. Turquise over a column of black is fresher than yellow, actually. Then of course with white it's totally light and fresh. Can wear with red, weirdly enough, especially with bridging colors or patterns. Yellow does read bumblebee to me even in softer iterations so I have to admit poison eye for that even though there are some combinations that work.
