I’m trying hard to stay focused on what I want to wear for late winter/transitional (six more weeks, at least!) but am finding myself distracted by a handful of very pretty summer items. I have plenty of transitional clothes -- am looking forward to getting some wear out of my jeans, blazers, field jackets, and cardigans, which have all been slumbering for the past couple months. So I'm putting the brakes on cold-weather shopping and trying to figure out my warm-weather scheme.

Inevitably, I go through a phase in February/March where I am *so sick* of boots and can think of nothing but cute colourful sneakers. This year it’s these rose-gold slip-ons and colour-block hi-tops. I said I wasn’t going to buy sneakers this year, was going to focus on one or two hi-value dressier options, but lemme tell you either of these would get lots of wear if the fit/comfort is there. I may try them both just to see. My current casual sneakers are both navy (both pairs, not both shoes!), so maybe I can justify the variety. I haven’t had hi-tops in forever…

I also keep going back to this ditsy-floral cami. 90s does 70s -- grunge plus boho elements. I’m obsessed with the button-down cami look in general, tried a couple holiday versions that were no-go’s, so I’m still on the lookout. And I am so picky about florals, I probably should just pounce on the one that is instant love, right? I could easily pair it with any of my jeans, olive pants, wide-leg pants in black and rust. I like the idea of wearing it underneath a canvas field jacket (I have two), but also under my white denim jacket, boxy black cardi, grey tweed blazer, etc. Backordered ‘til late February, so perhaps I might as well order before it sells out entirely. (I have a strapless bra I like, plus plenty of thin-strapped black bras, so logistics should not be an issue.)

Other current obsessions: windowpane, terra cotta/rust. I’ve been looking at windowpane and grid-plaid items every summer for several years, and still haven’t added anything. These ankle socks are a strong candidate right now, as is the linen tank. The same folks who make the linen tank make linen midi skirts in a host of beautiful colours: https://www.etsy.com/shop/notPERFECTLINEN

I had a gorgeous pink linen midi skirt for years, and finally said goodbye to it a couple summers ago. I’m hoping to find a replacement in a rustier/dustier member of the pink-red family. I’m contemplating the redwood, salmon blush and raspberry options here -- but maybe the amber yellow would be even better? Or moss green? Might need to order fabric swatches to help me decide.

I’ve been looking at this Hackwith Design House skirt for weeks, but am loathe to spend that much on a single garment, especially for warm weather. Also, I emailed them about sizing and it would be much longer on me than on the model, so I’ve crossed it off my list. But I do want to find a swishy terracotta coloured skirt!

On the bright side, looking at these images here, they read as a pretty cohesive capsule! (Sorry I'm light on Finds and links; my internet is not cooperating.)
