Spring Bargains K/R -- Any of these an 8 or more?

Hi Fabulous YLF Members! Here are some spring bargains I'm on the fence about. I am listing price because a lower price is going to make a lower CPW therefore I am more willing to take risks.

But even if this stuff is cheap, please help me be fab, no room for things that aren't my style or not 8s or more.

#1-2. Sanctuary via Ross oatmeal sweater $15.99. Very soft, kind of Boho. Here I have it done both volume on volume (before I even saw Angie's new blog post!) as in #1 and with skinnies in #2.

#2-3. Else skinny yellow-gold jeans via Macy's $68. Really soft, I sized up so I wouldn't look like a stuffed sausage but they are still very fitted looking. http://www1.macys.com/shop/pro.....sn_results

#4. RL Ralph Lauren pink checked via TJ Maxx $24.99. I've shown the sleeves two ways. Is this me? How could I style it?

#5 -6. Open Tux style jacket by Express via TJ Maxx $16.99. I would not wear it with this tee shirt. Are the pockets poorly placed? That's my main concern.

#7. Striped woven top by a jr's brand "Fun & Flirt" (!) via TJ Maxx $14.99. One button already fell off, stripes don't match. However, it was a cheap way for me to get the J Crew look from Angie's blog. http://youlookfab.com/2012/03/.....no-curves/

I love all of these, Denise! Well done. The only one I'm on the fence about is #4, but only because it looks more Mary K than Denise. I can't remember seeing you button downs, gingham, or pink before. How does it feel?

I ADORE everything except the pink shirt, which I think is too conservative for you. Not a huge fan of the color, either.

But the white sweater? WITH the yellow skinnies? 10 IMO. I think the tuxedo jacket would be even better with a longer or shorter top, but it is really cute. And the striped top does indeed hearken back to the J. Crew blouse. Do you feel better in this blouse than the striped blazer?

Love the yellow skinnies - they look amazing on you Denise! The pink RL shirt is lovely now that I'm a recent convert to button down shirts and the fit looks good. Unfortunately I agree with you about the pockets on the tux jacket - which is unfortunately because I love the lapels and shade of it but the pockets are in a weird spot. The striped top is really cute and it looks fab with your red jacket. I'm on the fence about the sweater in 1/2 but I'm not a sweater girl so probably shouldn't weigh in on that one. Overall, good stuff!

I think the only thing worth keeping are the yellow skinnies. I'd like the sweater if it had a different neck.

I LOVE the yellow skinnies on you! I like the shirt in #7. The others are fine but I'm not sure they quite make the 8+ cut to me.

Thanks for your opinions! Rae -- yes I feel better in the shirt than the Nordstorm Caslon knit striped jacket. Although it's really comfortable (jacket), I find I am really fussy about jacket cut and length and the length is sort of blah on me. Whereas I like the length of the TJ Maxx cheap shirt.

Yay yellow skinnies and tux jacket! KEEP!

Not sold on the oatmeal sweater - love the volume but am not fond of oatmeal or the neckline.

The pink shirt just does not seem like you. I feel some slight poison eye here from bad 80s memories, so bear that in mind. I'd prefer you in the blue equivalent, or perhaps a mint?

Nice striped shirt rip-off! It looks just like the j. crew shirt from over here!

Denise: Love your well defined sense of style. I agree that the pink shirt isn't an 8 -- maybe a different color or a longer, softer drape? I'm unsure about the white sweater. This is a great silhouette on you, but the neckline throws me a bit. Rae loves it, however, and she may have a fresher eye here. ADORE the yellow skinnies and the jackets!

For me, the only 8 or above is the tux jacket. If the pockets are bothering you, can you tuck the flaps inside the pocket slits? I have done that with a few jackets and it works fine if the flaps are cut narrow enough to slide in there.

I'm just not feeling the yellow leans (the light color + the tightness + the wrinkles), but I can see that I'm in the minority :).

I'm with Jonesy. The pink top doesn't feel like you, somehow (although I'm certain you could style it well, as in your monochrome green look the other day, although I'm not suggesting you go out and buy pink leans...wait...do you already HAVE pink or coral leans? You DO have red ones....). Anyway...I have a bit of a poison eye for the oatmeal sweater, so I might not be trustworthy on that score. And when stripes don't match, that just bugs me no matter what the price. But I do love that blue (of the tux jacket) on you and it looks as if it could be versatile.

tux jacket i like, i think tucking the pocket flaps inside and perhaps tacking them with a stitch or two would work if you are worries about the pocket placement. that and the black and red JCrew knockoff would be my keep votes.

ETA: ummm, just saw the stripes dont match... i wore a shirt like that today and it bugged me all day long, FWIW

The tux jacket is my favorite of the bunch! I really like the last top, too, if you are going to layer it under a jacket. Love that it's an affordable option to the jcrew one, loose buttons and all.

I love the first look, head to toe white; very dramatic. I vote pass on the gold jeans. They look very thin, plus if you had to size up, they might stretch out too much. The gingham shirt might work in a black/white, but I vote no on the pink. I don't know enough about tux jackets to vote, but it looks fine to me. Love the cheap striped top: great alternative to the pricey one. Great spring bargains!

I Love ALL the outfits but #4 is not as fab as the others. Wow...you wear those skinnies and oversized tops really well!!! That #1 pic was really nice too because it was sort of the slouchy look which you obviously can do very well! Loved the all white color on #1 also.

OK, I'm just a mile away from the stores and ready to return. Here's the tally (including my votes):

Oatmeal sweater: 5 (has my vote) -- Returning but not tonight.

Yellow jeans: 9 (has my vote). Keeping. The fabric is good quality, not thin, not as thin as my green jeans.

Pink shirt: 0.5 votes. Returning.

Tux jacket: 10 votes. I was a "nay" on this but now I'm reconsidering.

Stripe shirt: 8 votes. I was a "nay" but now I'm wearing it, so I'm keeping it.

Oh, fun. . . I posted my answer without looking at anybody else's response. (I'm trying to do that more often, so I don't get overly influenced by other opinions.) Nobody is feeling that pink shirt!

Denise, I LOVE the sweater on you, both ways work beautifully to my eye! (I also love the photo #1, with you peeking out of your hair!)

I think the pocket placement on the tux is actually something you carry off well --- it looks quirky on you, not weird! And, as Jonesy said, you can tuck the flaps in if you prefer.

I'm on the fence about the striped shirt, but that's because I personally find stripes that don't match up irritating. Not a deal breaker at a lower price, still...

The pink shirt... well, what would you wear it with --- do you know yet? I'm not sure about that colour for you, doesn't seem like your style, BUT it is a lovely shirt and looks like great fabric. Was it not available in any other colours? Or did you have a plan for pink?

I like the sweater, particularly given the neckline is a bit different to what your normally wear. I think it's nice for a change. The color is lovely and I just love the shape of the sweater.

The gold skinnies I love! What fun.

The pink shirt is nice but it just doesn't seem like "you".

The jacket looks good. From the pictures the fabric looks quite luxurious and I like the cut.

The stiped blouse is really nice.. .I thought it was the J Crew from the picture. I am glad you are keeping it..
