Spring Bag Hunt 2013 - Which do you like?

Every year for the past 5 or so I have bought an okay white bag to carry in the spring and summer. It is always cheap and wrecked by the end of the summer, which is okay because I never like it that much anyway. This year it ends! I am on the hunt for find a white (or grey) leather bag that I love and can hang on to for years.

For background, I prefer long bags to wide, and am looking for something reasonably small (13" max width). I am not a frequent purse switcher. I have a teal hobo that I use on occasion, but most of the time I carry #1 - the black bag which is possibly the best bag I have ever owned.

I've scoured the web, including amazon and ebay, and here are the contenders:

3. Sloane and Alex Marissel Satchel
4. Elliot Lucca Snake Tote
5. Coach Kristen
6. Guess Cordova (love the style, though it isn't leather...)

Which would you choose?

Oh gee, bags are so personal. I don't know how much my opinion will help, but for what it's worth, of the bags above, I think I would choose #5 -- or possibly #6, but only if it were real leather (shame). I like a bag that has a little suppleness to the leather, although I find that even stiff leather bags do soften up with time and use.

I like #2 and #5 the best. What can I say; I love a good hobo bag.

I like 3 and 5. Though I'm not sure if 3 zips closed too? for me I have to have a purse that zips or is firmly buckled shut. I am paranoid about stuff falling out.

Okay, I can't buy a bag online, because I need to be able to handle it, try opening and closing things, see if I can stuff my wallet and phone and etc. into it comfortably. Are you sure you don't want to head to a couple of department stores, especially if it's something you hope to keep for a while? That said, if you love #1, I would think that you would love #2.

I am with Laura. The few times I tried to buy a bag online without having seen it first in person, it was a complete flop.

I love #5. I bought a Coach Kristin that looks exactly like the one you're looking at over Christmas and have loved it. I found mine at an outlet. If you have one near you maybe yours will have one as well.

5 is lovely. 2 is my second if you want something slouchier but while I love them they have been around for a while and i think a little more structured is coming in

Thanks for all the input I've been waffling so long that the Coach Kristin is nolonger available (it was on kijiji, sigh). So I guess that makes 2 the front runner.

Suz and Laura - I am usually all for bag shopping in person, however I have not seen anything I like in a store. That said, the only local place I haven't checked is the coach store near me, so maybe I'll spin out there this week and see what is what...

Also from my pinterest board are #1 - coach via nordstrom and #2 Kate spade via zappos (Which would necessitate a trip over the border for pickup). I absolutely adore #2 but I don't think it is nearly practical enough to splurge on.

IF I could keep a white bag nice, I would totally be saving for this.

Thistle, that is a gorgeous bag! I love the bow/stud embellishment. The only reason it didn't make my short list is that I like a short strap that fits over my shoulder. I wish the handles were longer

I have been searching for the perfect white bag for summer for several season. I have been reluctant to "splurge" on white because I'm not sure how well it will hold up. I do not change bags often - only about 3 times a year. I like structure in my bag (not hobo style). Even so, I would pick # 5. You might have more luck finding white bags in a month or so.

I don't know what you would love but I have the Coach Kristen, in white & grey & silver python embossed leather. Do you have any questions I could answer about it? I have one for you. How do you keep your white bags clean, especially when wearing dark denim?

Emily, Check your local Winners for leather bags.

I live in a smallish community in the north, but our outlet has amazing leather bags, and lots in white and cream. I've been keeping an eye on a bone coloured Coach bag with silver stud detail, and a gorgeous tote/shopper on light tan and white. Both under $200. though regularly much more.
