Spiegel question - mottled?

Sorry I have to post and run for my haircut, but the jacket finally came in the mail just now! Fits great! But . . . the leather itself is almost mottled greyish on the back panel. Tried to get a pic but black is so hard to photograph.
Anyone else have this on their jackets? I understand exchanges and returns are a nightmare with this company. Should I just deal with it and suppose it's part of the charm? Especially for $30?? lol

Mine looks normal black too. Does it look like the leather itself is damaged, or is it just a dye problem? If it's the latter, you might be able to fix it with shoe polish.

Mine is not like that although the leathers are slightly different in texture from panel to panel, only noticeable if you really look.

Yeah, I didn't notice any color differentiation on mine. If it bugs you, sometimes I can fix this with a little shoe polish (done many a time with flea market boots). Just got to really wipe off the excess and let it dry completely so you don't polish stuff you sit on.

Mine arrived with the little beads from the desiccant bag loose in the pocket. The jacket appeared dusty from this, but the dust wiped right off with a soft cloth. Could this be the source of discoloration for your jacket?

I'll see about wiping with a cloth. I'm scared to go to shoe polish (won't it rub off?) Here is a pic or two. Hard to see I'm sure, but it's definitely there IRL.

Mo I see clearly what you mean. I know it wasn't expensive but I would still expect it to be perfect. Looks like it is a faulty garment. They really should exchange at no cost to you.

It's a bummer, for sure. But, it's really not terrible, and for this price, you can easily wear it both in the mountain snow and coastal humidity and never worry about wrecking it! Enjoy it as your "gateway draped leather jacket". If you find yourself reaching for it enough, you can always invest in your perfect item. That's how I'm looking at this (if mine ever arrives, that is!).

Ah, honestly it looks like distressing from here. Maybe the company might at least refund you a partial amount for the damage? Doesn't hurt to ask... maybe enough people have complained about their service that they'll be in the mood to step up their game?
