So funny that SSS was an April 1 prank, since it actually came at a timely moment for me! I was shopping at the Uniqlo/Marimekko opening day (anyone else try that stuff?) and I was forced to make a choice with the dresses. Size small, slightly tight right above the bust and perfect everywhere else (though voluminous!) or size medium, loose and not looking right anywhere, and going to a tailor. The prices were great, so either way it felt like it could work.
I chose the smaller dresses, but I was fighting my very own SSS! On the one hand I can't tolerate things that don't fit absolutely perfectly and I have things tailored as necessary. However, in this case, I could see that I would be compromising these cool side pockets to have to take in the dress at all, and since *nothing* on the larger dresses fit the way I wanted, it felt like a bit more of a leap of faith, like maybe I would take them in, lose the pockets, and still not love how they looked. I had my spidey sense that says "walk away if it doesn't fit perfectly!" fighting ANOTHER spidey sense that says, "sometimes my favorite things that I wear all the time are the inexpensive and even slightly flawed things that I pick up on a whim". Truly, only time will tell if I did the right thing, but I very much look forward to wearing these dresses when it gets hot!
