Sperry Top Sider Sizing

Hi everyone. I've been thinking about getting another pair of fun shoes to wear to work and I recently tried on a pair of Sperrys and thought they felt great. I've been reading about the sizing and I'm getting mixed reviews. Do any of you own a pair? How has the sizing fit you? Below is a pic of the pair I'm thinking about. I think they'd be fun to wear with jeans or capris (the shortest pant length I'll go for work).

they run TTS for me.

I tried on a bunch the last time I was at the Rack and they were TTS for me too.

I was finding that I take a 7.5 in Clarks and a 38 in Ecco - so became convinced that my shoe size was 7.5, instead of 8. Wrong! I bought Sperry Topsider shoes in 7.5 and while they felt reasonably comfy in the store, they ended up being too tight/uncomfortable.

I think this means the Sperrys are definitely 'true to size', whereas some other brands (ie. Clarks/Ecco) might be cut larger.

I found them narrow across the widest part of my forefoot wide in the heel. Couldn't wear them. And they seemed to me like such stiff, thick leather that they would resist stretching out. Length wise, they were okay.

Can I ask a general question about Topsiders? I'm new to the boards, but I've been a lurker for ... close to a year?

I'd love a pair of Topsiders because they're comfy and I love the preppy style. However, I've never bought any because I'm not sure how to make them look cool with the rest of my clothing! I'm afraid they'd veer toward frumpy on me even though they look so cute on many people. My style is pretty minimalist and these would be for casual wear, which usually involves bootcut jeans and a casual top for me.

That's a really good question Stacy. I've seen people around campus wearing them and they haven't looked frumpy to me. Maybe try on a pair with a fun color or pattern to avoid the frump factor?

I have a pair of the bronze metallic -- they're sort of a rose gold color which actually looks pretty good with my pale skin. I think the color makes all the difference in making them work with my look, which is not very preppy at all.

I found them TTS. My feet are on the narrow side, so I was surprised how well they fit and stay on my foot.

Hi I purchased a pair last spring - Angie encouraged me to try the metallic and I have ended up loving them. I had to go down 1/2 size. I attached a photo of the one's I have.

Thanks for letting me hijack your question, Kristin. I hadn't considered metallic, but I could see pewter, rose gold or bronze fitting into my wardrobe pretty well. The reason I asked the question is because my style downfall is buying too many basics and not enough statement pieces, which ends up translating as boring instead of polished and fabulous. I think this is my own weird nitpicky hangup and I won't know if they work until I try them!

TTS for me. Though some styles don't like the length of my toes, even though the overall length is correct and my toes really aren't long.

Like CJ, TTS in length, but too narrow for me at the point where my foot is widest. I do think they would stretch with wear, so I might venture into a metallic this year.
