Thank goodness the prescription has changed only the tiniest bit. I can wear my current specs (pic #1 Kate Spade) but am eligible (thank you work insurance!) for a new pair.

Changes since I got my last specs are short hair and natural (lighter) colour.

Some of these specs are fab (#2 the Givenchy, #4 the Ray Bans) - but not fab on me. #6 and #9 are similar, but different with some purple on the frames. Your opinions, please - and any ideas?!

Five and six are my faves on you. Between six and nine, I like six. The frames seem a little lighter and go with your coloring better.

I like #5, 8 and 9 on you. The ones in #8 seem quite fun.

9 and 7-- like the lighter color and the shape on 9-- different.

I like 7 best. These are all similar in color to the ones you have. Would you consider a different color? How about a leopard print or crystal clear lucite or green like Angie's?,

Have you tried bronze-colored frames? I think with your light hair color and delicate bone structure, you should lighten the color and scale down the size a bit.

From these I like #6 the best - they're flattering and look at least a bit different to your current pair. Most of the ones shown are too similar in my opinion and your current specs are fantastic. I got that right that you don't want the new ones as replacement but as addition, right? How about some color?

1,5,6,7 are quite flattering on you, but agree, what about a color for a new pair? You do have to get used to it, but then, it goes with everything:-)

Carla, one thing that somehow doesn't come across in the photos is the delicacy and lightness of your face/ features in real life.

I worry that heavy frames will overwhelm you. Yet at the same time, I think you do want something with real verve and personality to transmit visually some of your energy. It's a puzzle. I'm not completely in love with any of these, but I wonder if it is the photo quality/ light affecting my opinion.

Someone told me about a great frames store in the city yesterday -- it's on Front and Jarvis, not too far from Union station. If you are around there, maybe you can check it out? She had brilliant frames that she had purchased there.

My faves are 6 and 7, with 7 probably being topmost. I like that the shape is a bit different, interesting, and that the color isn't as dark, so when I look at you I can still see you, not JUST glasses. #7 is not only different than your current pair (to add variety), but I also like that it's got some personality (I see a hair of cat eye). (I'm fair and have this same difficulty. I've worn black frames, but they're not always the best option.

I was having problems w/photo load last night and now on my phone so it's harder to see these, but I agree with others who suggest a totally different pop of colour. I like 6 most of the choices, but all the options that work in my view are pretty similar to the ones you have, which are my flat-out faves of the group. I agree with Suz that none of the new options wow me and like her suggestion to go someplace where you can check out a different selection if your insurance covers it.Frame stores often have staff who are expert in fitting specs to faces and wardrobe, whereas opticians specialise in getting lenses right. I buy mine at a frame store (in Montreal!) and take them to my optician for lenses.

I like the way #6 fits your face - but worry about the heaviness of the colour. Could just be the bad light though.

I like the shapes of 6 and 7. It is hard to tell about the color. I am not sure that the darkness on my screen matches them in IRL. Super dark colors may be a little harsh against your hair and skin, yet you can definitely wear a pair that has a bit of pop in shape and color.

Thanks for the feedback! My current glasses -Kate Spade mottled olive backed by turquoise, and Fysh/Jenny Beker colab tortoiseshell are conventional, so I AM looking for something different. I like the modified cat's eye of #7. #6+#9 are purple (not plum) and similar in design. I do like how they fade ombre-like towards the bottom of the frame. #7 and #9 FELT the most comfortable.

My next venture I will try as may COLOURS as I can to get an idea what might work.

Specs shopping is hard! I can't SEE without my glasses, so peering into a mirror with frames with blanks doesn't help me much. Taking pictures and lining them up, like the display above, helps a lot!

Thanks for the recommendation, Suz. Will source out the shop. There is a big selection at the Bay specs shop, and a Lens Crafters in the Eaton Center. I will be trying on pairs at my optometrists on Saturday (she is ordering some in for me!)

I know just what you mean, about not being able to see why trying them on, since you don't have your prescription on; I have the same problem! I take a trusted adviser with me. But yes, photos definitely help, too. My best idea is to wear a pair of contacts while trying on the frames (even though I never wear contacts, because for some reason even the most expensive ones dry out my eyes these days, even though I wore them years ago with no problems), so then I can see! But other options are always good, too.
