I have a few tadashi shoji dresses and they are lovely and are usually in a style that lasts and looks current for years.

I think the lace gives the appearance of the lower neckline without the exposure. #4 is very pretty and worth a try.

Oh, I love Angie's pick. That is the same sleeve length as that St. John, which is one of the elements of the dress I just adore. And Suz's idea about adding accessories that sparkle is perfect. Fingers crossed it works out for you.

Wow, so exciting! These are all great options, but I like the second row the best for that occasion. Can't wait to see your choice!:-)

Came back to ask, if you are/will be familiar with AP sizing after trying these on, are the dresses true to size?

Hi abc --

How fun -- a chance to be part of a special event and dress to the nines while doing so!

Sorry it's such a pain to find possibilities.

If you're ordering a second+ dress to try, I did want to put in a plug for the AP mesh sequin styles (looks like 1 and 3 would be the best in terms of what you want for neckline).

I wore one of them for a wedding and it was super-lightweight, packed like a dream (kept in plastic bag, rolled, shook out --> ready) and was so so SO fun to dance in as the bottom flares out when walking/moving. The sequins looked a little figure-skater-y to me in daylight when trying on eetc but shimmered in evening light.

[Suz had great suggestions for blinging out the dress Angie suggested. but I wore all the same type of stuff *with* my sequin dress. Magpie for the win. ;)]

Lyn67 I will share any knowledge I gain, don't worry!

Vix - I plan on ordering Angie's pick and one or two others just to have a basis of comparison. Thx for weighing in and sharing your experience.

If I go with the Angie pick I do plan on dressing it up with blingy chandelier earrings and metallic (most likely silver) sandals, probably these as I know the style works for me and is comfy
