Speaking of tall lace-up boots...

Honest opinion -- does it look weird that I've had to only lace these boots up high enough that I left the top three sets of holes unlaced? I dont know if it's the tree-trunk nature of my legs (sheesh, and here I thought it was only my thighs), or whether Frye just expects us all to have skinny calves, but the laces aren't long enough to loosen them yet still reach the top of the boot. Should I look for longer laces?

Forgive slightly odd angle -- not so easy to take a photo of one's own calves!

Your legs are not tree trunks. They are fabulous.

It would bother me if the laces did not go all the way up. I wonder if they sell extra long laces?

I like them this way. I wear my Converse (high tops) and Dr. Martens (14 eye) not-quite laced to the top too.

LOL Suz, you're sweet. Darn boots, contributing to my leg insecurities! It does kind of bother me not to lace them to the top. I feel like I'm getting more sensitive to any discomfort in my footwear, and I felt the need to loosen these laces this year. My first thought was, did my calves get bigger from all the cycling this year, but no, my other boots still zip up. I think I just have less tolerance for tightness.

The bummer is, I'd have to remove the laces to measure them, and then try to find longer ones online and order them! Seems a hassle, but it would be nice to have laces that are long enough. I can't help but think that I can't be the only person to encounter this in these boots -- my legs are not THAT big.

TylerAnne, thanks! I can see the appeal with Cons and Docs -- they're a bit more RATE style. But I'm wondering if the unlaced look with these boots is a little too unpolished for me, and the way I wear them. For instance, would this look weird with a skirt or dress? Although worn that way, rather than over jeans, I can tighten and lace them up a little more. But still not all the way to the top.

I used to that with an old pair of lace up boots. I like but of it bothers you, then get some longer laces. BTW, you look great and those boots are fab. Can you tell me how high the Frye heels are?

Thanks! The Frye heels are 3" high. These days I'm wishing they were a half inch shorter, but they're not bad comfort-wise for a little bit of walking.

I can lace my tall boots to the top only by wearing very thin socks and pulling the laces really tight (and I have pretty narrow calves) and then I don't even have enough left over to make a bow. I dunno why they short change us.

I think order longer laces if it bothers you. The shorter laces work fine as a RATE look, but if that's not what you want for a particular outfit, it's nice to have the flexibility.

Longer laces... It's never your legs; it's always the bloody laces! There's some mind numbing http://www.shoelaces.com or whatnot that has every lace length under the sun. And shame on frye for being cheap with the laces.

I don't think it looks odd. It shows the Frye logo. If it bothers you you could look for longer laces or call Frye & ask them for them. I LOVE these boots. Are they new & available for purchase somewhere? I need round toes for my wide feet.

Janet I would be bugged by the short laces! WTH? Don't get it. Doesn't look "stylish" enough to be a design element or twist. Hmmmm. Longer ones should be easy enough to locate. You could sort of do a custom length using two of the laces, then ordering two more for the other boot if all the Frye laces are this short!

I've also had to replace my laces with longer ones on occasion (they're pretty easy to find - I'd try the cobblers, or amazon), although I don't mind this look either. It looks deliberate to me. Another thing you could try is only lacing up every other eyelet on the upper part of the leg.

I don't mind them like this but I think I'd prefer them fully laced. Frye may be able to help you out, otherwise long laces are definitely out there.
