Speaking of [EDIT: Date night] dresses ;)

I am drawn to this dress even though I have absolutely no upcoming event for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/karen-.....337dabc933 I am no longer a head to toe bodycon gal really, but somehow the coverage makes this more okay to me. What do you think of this dress on/for me? I have yet to fill the refined rocker/dressy dress hole for going out to swanky places where the boy might be in a suit. To reiterate, I won't be buying this tomorrow or anything - just a 'where I'm headed' kind of question.

I like it and of course you could wear it with your figure, but I think the satin on the hips bunching up looks a little off. It's got that Herve Leger look. Is this a direction you see yourself headed? I thought you were headed away from it lately but I'm not sure why I'm thinking so.

I'm apparently the only one who has an issue with "slut dress" as a descriptor, so no need for the quotation marks!

I could see this style of dress working on you if the fit is right, especially if there is enough coverage to make it appropriate for the type of dressy event you're thinking of. I think that having enough structure is helpful with a body-con dress like this, and also making sure that, even if the actual cost of the dress is budget-friendly, that the fabric doesn't look "cheap" or low-quality. In this dress in particular, the shiny, bunched-up pieces of fabric cheapen the effect to my eye.

This isn't necessarily a whole movement toward body con or anything . . . but I don't have that 'wow' date night dress. My last attempt had more of a funny hip thing going on, to say the least http://www.overstock.com/Cloth.....oduct.html I didn't even show a K/R because it was just BAD. But I love the idea of a sort of edgy, along with sexy, dress.

I can see you in this, Malina. It's true that the silvery stuff could cheapen the look a bit but it is tough to say how it would play out IRL.

For me, I always wonder how anyone wears these dresses without freezing!! It's not the body con part that scares me off so much as the lack of coverage. I'd be so darn cold! Unless I were dancing non stop, I guess.

I think tapering the skirt of your existing date dress would make it very va va voom and perfect for the rock capsule.

I can't help it, when I look at the new inspiration pic all I can imagine is the black bands running into the white during laundry.

I like the idea of the dress, but not so much the shiny panels on the hips. Maybe show it to the SO and see what he thinks? Men are so funny. He might or might not like all the crisscrossing lines.
