Speaking of flat oxfords, Bass?

The Born oxfords @ NAS sold out in my size, boo, so I was looking around for other options. Has anyone worn Bass recently? I'm sure I had a pair or two when I was a kid but it's been ages. I am really loving the Bellingham.

(BTW, what's the difference between an oxford and a brogue, and for that matter a wingtip?)

My understanding is that wingtips are the ones that have the "widow's peak" detail at the toe. Brogues have the small holes punched in the edges of the leather. Oxfords are the style of shoe. Please correct me if I am wrong!

I got a pair of Bass loafers last year- the quality seemed good and the leather was soft. I do find that the soles on most of these oxfords are rather masculine for my taste, though.

I've always been a huge fan of Bass. They used to wear like iron.
The original Weejun has the reputation of an excess of heel slip.
True for my pair. I think they may be manufactured offshore now
and don't know if the quality has changed.

Laura, they might not be exactly what you're looking for, but have you checked out Frye's oxfords?
I got the Carson about a month ago and practically live in them:

I've always felt stumpy in flat oxfords, but these are somehow elongating (and really comfy).

I have some suede ones and they are very comfy and seem to be a good quality. I have my eye on some frye's too. I am trying to impose a shoe budget but zappos is my undoing!

Thanks, all. Fernanda, those Fryes are cute, although I am not a big fan of the faded color on the second one. I seem to actually like the more substantial sole - most of the oxfords that ladies here have been buying this year remind me unfavorably of soft-soled dance shoes. (I blame my middle school choir teacher.)

Given that several unexpected expenses have just cropped up in my life, I may not be buying anything for a while... but dreaming and planning are free.
