Speaking of Cashmere...

When I read Angie's post about her new heathered oatmeal cashmere pullover, from Boden, I thought it was lovely and I've been wanting to slowly replace some of my sweaters with cashmere.

I know they come in all weights and qualities and I've read a few threads on the forum to help educate me further.

Today, I received a mail order catalog from Pure Collection with lots of cashmere offerings and I'm very curious about the quality from this company. Do any of you have any experience or feedback with them? Thanks!

Hi Vicki, I posted similar question. I never ordered anything though.
All the issues with tailored/fluid/oversized give me the willies for on-line ordering & returns and i could not quite figure their sizes. They were running a special on shipping at Christmas but i still couldn't pull the trigger.

Thanks, Isabel, unfrumped and Deb and I'm still a bit stumped on their sizes as I am with Boden. I don't know about the age of the company, but here's a link from their website. The tagline on their catalog says Pure Collection Best of British Style.

I don't think it can hurt to try, but with cashmere I am finding it's best to be able to feel the weight of the material. Sometimes feather weight can work well but it really depends on the quality of the weaving. Honestly my favorite cashmere sweaters are silk blends.

I get the Pure catalog but haven't ordered either. Somehow I feel they might be related to Poetry because they're both British companies and the catalogs arrive at the same time.

I just got two sweaters from Everlane and while they are very traditional in style and color (gray and navy, v neck and cardi) they are such nice quality -- very thick and soft. I also recommend the company's customer service. I ordered another item at the same time (a seed stitch mostly cotton sweater) and when it linted all over the place on first wearing, I complained. Within 24 hours they gave me a credit for a brand new sweater with free shipping and said I did not have to give the old one back.

I also thought I'd try a Boden cashmere. I used to shop with them a lot. However, I have had a hard time with sizing. My shoulders are somewhat broad, but I am otherwise small, and I find their jackets and blouses to be very tight in the shoulders and baggy in the bust. Knits are much easier. Also I have some older wool sweaters from there that I liked much when I first bought them, but which went pilly very quickly.

Great feedback, DV and Ummlila and thanks Thistle. I was curious about Boden, too, and often, especially with an item at this price point, seeing it and feeling it, in person, is the best, unless there's a proven track record from one online. Thanks.

I order from Boden all the time (more for the kids though) and find most of their items quite good in quality. They have stupendous customer service and usually free shipping/free returns and good reviews to help determine sizes. They will help you with fit if you message them or call and they have a fit guide, but not for all items.
I always suspected Boden and Pure were related or at least share lists. There have been a few discussions about Pure Collection on here, but I have also not tried them yet.

I ordered a merino & cashmere blend sweater from Pure Collection over Christmas. I was pleased with the service and the quality. I thought their sizing was a little on the small size, but not dramatically so. Shipping took about 12 days as I recall, but it arrived on Christmas Eve, so in time. Woolovers is another Bristish company you might want to take a look at. I've tried their lambswool sweaters, a little scratchier than I'm used to, but the prices are great.

I've been ordering from Boden for about 15 years(!) and love their clothes. They last forever and catalog-wise are more fashion forward then other clothes buying options. Although, they are not likely as fashion forward as YLF-ers might expect by shopping from a wide array of sources. I've also bought clothing from Pure and found those items also to be high quality and well made. With both British catalogs you need to order carefully the first few times to get sizing right and then after that the clothing stays true to size. Boden now has wonderful customer comments that I read closely which give really good insight into sizing quirks. I've been hesitant on Boden shoes all these years, but finally succumbed and bought a pair. They fit well and I was pleased with them as well. I've had some jobs where I was so swamped that catalog shopping was about all I could seem to find the energy for--and Boden was such a happy pursuit.

More excellent experiences Jj, Laurie and Suzanne, and reassuring, too. Time to hit the "buy" button, but, in fact, there too many wonderful items and decisions to make.
