Space age sweater: Not a 10 (ETA question)

I received my Space Age sweater from Janet a couple of days ago, but I'm posting only now because I wanted to wear it around the house a bit and mull it over.

What I love about it is the colour, it is so much fun and also the shape, slouchy yet not overly so. The only problem for me is the wide neckline. You can't see it in the picture, but the neckline keeps sliding to reveal my bra straps. And that is one thing that drives me absolutely batty. Even my husband noticed it and immediately said 'you'll never wear it' and it's true, because if an item has an annoying quirk, it usually becomes an orphan.

So I'm thinking I should just return this and look out for a metallic item that is better suited to my body. What do you think?

ETA: Does anyone have any suggestions re.the bra strap issue? The sweater is perfect otherwise.

Bra strap are annoying ... but I love this sweater...

Hmm I would wear a tank in with some bright pop of colour and wear it :)...
I had done it with similar problem

I really love this on you Kirti. The color of the sweater is beautiful against your skin tone, but YOU need to love it.

You can sew a little snap strap in the shoulders to hold your bra strap. I have done that before with a couple wider neck sweaters in the past. I like the colour on you Kirti!

I think it's gorgeous on you! Glad it finally arrived.

I noticed the neckline is wide too, and I figure I will either wear a tank top underneath or use a bit of fashion tape to hold the wide part of the neckline to my bra strap. Easy fix!

Oh ya... Just like in the sari blouse...

That sweater looks truly amazing on you! I second the idea of sewing a little strap with a snap into the shoulders -- I have a blouse with that feature and it totally solves the bra strap problem!

It's lovely. But I know what you mean about the straps issue. I have a top like that and I need to get some snap tape to hold my straps, too!

Do the bra strap fix! It's easy and quick and then you will have something you love.

Because it looks knit or stretchy, try first to sew the lingerie tape with each end on the shoulder seam line itself. This may help it from looking bumpy and weird.

ETA pin it with safety pins first and then try on to see if it's comfortable in that
position or if you need to scoot it over one way or the other. Move around.

I agree about the wide neck opening! I have to post my own K/R and that was a concern too. How is it that even though I feel I'm developing wide shoulders, this neckline exposes one bra strap or the other.

I love the idea of adding those little snaps - like a sleevesless dress usually has. As long as it doesn't pull the outer edges toward the center and creat any gaps.

It's SO pretty! I think the strap fix MaryK posted is a must-do. The sweater will be perfect once the straps stay hidden, IMO. I have those snaps on a couple dresses and they work really well.

I actually have those bra strap snaps on some of my Indian clothes! So I am planning to take the sweater with me when I go to India and get the alteration done there. Hope it works out!
