Soul sucking beige or not?

I am about to get that wine silk tunic Traci found at J Jill and wondering about this vest. Love everything about it other than the color. I am a very pale ( typical Summer) blonde and beige is my worst color. Not sure if this color is more of a light grey or beige. Thoughts?

That looks like a light *stone* to me, and it just might work. You might want to wear color under it though, not white like the model has on. That looks like a super summer vest!

I think I'd keep looking for a better color - I've seen that one too at jjill but passed. I'm also blonde, not as light maybe but I find that the beige items and lighter grey items seem to sit in my closet too much. Have you tried looking at a large view on your computer monitor and bringing a mirror over to see your face at the same time?

I am not always against beige, but this one is setting off danger signals. It is just so close to skin tone, but, you know, deader.

It's a really cute vest, Tanya. Does it come in any other colors? I have the same coloring as you, I think, and I have to be careful with beige so that it doesn't wash me out. Perhaps the darker color underneath will equalize things.

I'm afraid it may be soul-sucking... sorry. It's looking rather ashy on my monitor, which in my opinion is the hardest beige to wear.

As an aside, who actually looks good in SSB? My coloring is very different from yours and I look like death in it too.

Interesting, I ordered that vest a couple of days ago (haven't received it yet) and the thought of it being soul-sucking beige did not even cross my mind (I was worried more that it might turn out to be shapeless). Because of the sale and free shipping, I decided to order a bunch of stuff and return everything that does not work out.

I think my take on the color was more "stone", like Claire's. Did not think of it as beige.

Thank you all very much! It does not come in any other colors, I wish it came in olive. I will pass, even at best the color is only going to be passable on me.

Hmm, I wonder... If you're wearing it with a top in a flattering color, wouldn't that be enough to make the color work for you?

Tanya -- I agree with your final decision. There have been many times this past season that I fell in love with a garment only to realize that the color was terrible for me. I left the garment in the store. Why purchase another closet orphan because that is what it would become.

Sigh. Commiserating. I have similar colouring, as you know. And I can't tell you how often I WISH I could wear beige. But Angie's spot on...the only kind I can wear successfully is a pinkish one.

I really like that vest and think it would have been a fab addition to your wardrobe for summer. I like the structuring possibilities with a vest - sort of like a summer jacket.

Traci, I did and it is lovely, but I already have a couple of black vests and do not need more.
