(sort of OT) flower girl dresses

Kind of a weird question... but would this flower girl dress (#1) be too similar to my wedding dress? Or is it adorable enough that the matchiness would just be more adorable? The two flower girls are quite small, I think they are 3 or 4 years old. The sash color is changeable, but I would do either this color or a purple.

Would a shorter flower girl dress be better? Something like the J crew one in #2?

Well I really don't think there is any risk that they will be mistaken for the bride so if you love them, I think you should go with it. The colored sash will coordinate nicely with the maids dresses. I think it is super cute.

I love a flower girl in white, and I am all over the adorable matchyness!! Although in a perfect world I would chose SHORT white fluffy dresses, I think #1 is adorbs!

No fear they will be mistaken for the bride, so I see no issue with white. I also tend towards matchy matchy anyway. I think #1 is so cute! Reminds me a little bit of a pixie dress, which I think adds to the appeal.

The flower girls in my daughter's wedding (April 2012) wore something very similar to #1 with a sash to match the bridesmaids and they looked great. Thistle is right, no chance they will be mistaken for the bride.

I think matching can look lovely in a bridal party! If you love these dresses, go for it.

Ohhhh, flower girl dresses....these are a few of my favourite things...

Both dresses are adorable. Flower girls are adorable! And I really like the idea of a white flower girl dress. But I do think that you're better off with dresses that don't touch the floor. There's something vaguely creepy about dressing up small children to look like adults, to my eye, and the full-length dress makes the model look like a mini bride.

It's worse with boys though. I can't stand it when they put a small boy in a teeny tiny suit! At weddings, a ringbearer can wear a smart button-front shirt and waistcoat (vest), but no blazer, or it looks too precious.

I must have missed the post with your dress! Can you link to it? I love wedding dresses.

Ahh, tiny adorable dresses! The white one is adorable, and I would not worry at all about it being too much like your dress. I personally would prefer short dresses on such young ones (I wonder if they might be more comfortable/less likely to trip or get tangled?) but they are going to be freaking cute whatever you put them in, so pick what you like.

I do agree that a shorter dress is probably better... here are a couple of other options. I think I will send the links for all 3 to the moms and they can decide.

Oh, Diana, I am swooning. SWOONING! You are breathtaking in your wedding gown. (And I'm not just saying that; I don't fib to make people feel good). I love the floaty layers. How are you going to do your hair?

Both #2 and #3 above are cute as all get out. #3 looks almost identical to the dress my daughter wore when she was a flower girl at my best friend's wedding, except my daughter's dress had a black sash. My friend is an accomplished seamstress, and made the flower girl dress out of the leftover off-white raw silk from her own gown. My daughter was two and three quarters at the time, and she looked darling. She also wore the dress for make-believe/dress-up for the next three years, and eventually passed it down to my best friend's own daughter, who is five years younger.

I love the flower girls in white (so sweet). My favorite is the first one or 2nd one. The 3rd one has a tulle at the bottom that just LOOKs scratchy to me.

I think you should go with the multi-layered tulle. I like #2 from the second set (but not that sash) and then #1 from the first set.

#3 from second set doesn't have enough layers. Your dress makes it look impoverished.

#2 from the first set is too tailored. You have a floaty thing going on. I think you should stick with it.

Love 'em all, with a preference for #3 in the second set. And how could this ever be too OT? Bring on the wedding!
