...but my other Gap order came today and I really need a reality check!
I have ordered 2 Academy blazers - in green and in yellow. Yellow is a happy color for me and I am always drawn to it emotionally but I find it hard to find a shade which I can wear so usually I stay away, However my recent and unexpected success with Gap yellow sweater prompted me to take more risks in this direction. Enter those blazers. Initially I wanted green but then decided to order yellow as well - just to try it on, you know.
I have ordered green in 12 and yellow in 10 because I was not sure about the sizing. Well, 12 is too big and 10 fits really well. I tried the green one on and though I liked the color on me I was not excited by it. I think it is the white piping which is too high contrast with the green which makes it somehow too busy for me.
Then I sceptically tried on the yellow...and was smitten. It ios pretty true lemon color (I even took a lemon from the fridge to compare) and somehow it is so cheerful and happy I can hardly stand it. I even like the white piping here because it is subtle (lower contrast). You may not see it well in the middle picture but the collar is white on the inside which gives an interesting effect when it is up (green one does not have this).
This leaves the question: does it wash me out completely and I am really insane for considering this jacket? Please vote:
Nay - are you off your rocker, you look like a death warmed over in it!
Yay - why not? Maybe not your best color but not horrible either...
I have also ordered Gap mesh sweaters. Following Shannon's experience I went with size M. I got them in white, navy and what I thought was cobalt. However I am disappointed with this color: it is not as vibrant and lacks the warmth of cobalt. It will go back.
I am considering to keep white and navy though as I don't have any summer weight sweaters. I think both these colors should work well for me: white would be especially useful if I keep the pink khakis!:-)
Thanks for looking!
