looking for a smart casual boot that can be worn in the MN winters. looked on zappos. not much luck finding something functional yet smart?

We went to dinner last night with friends and my husband was wearing his (ugly) timberlands in mud brown. We had about two inches and slush on the ground. I was wearing my Van eli boots on the other hand. He himself asked for help finding a stylish winter shoe/boot.

please help!
