I’ve done a lot of duplicating over the years, and I find it especially helpful for basics like underwear, socks, bras and tees. Gear like running shoes and hiking pants too. But sometimes I’ll duplicate a less basic, wildcard item I fall in love with quickly, with mixed results. I’ve had a couple of disappointments that way.
However, this summer, after wearing and enjoying a distinctive summer top that really ticked all my summer style wants, I bought a second one of the same top, but in a different color.
The top was this one from Rag & Bone. I got the blue denim version while in Seattle last summer (part of a wonderful Angie meetup shopping and lunch visit!) and it went into heavy warm-weather rotation. The length works so well with the higher waisted lightweight pants and skirts I wear in summer, and the denim dresses down the skirts nicely. The style has a bit of edge to it, and is beyond basic, which helps my warm weather style feel more like me, since our summers are too hot for layering or third pieces.
I looked at the white version on the Nordstrom site at least a dozen times before I finally gave in and ordered it. It’s turned out to be a great choice — the white is a nice lift in my summer wardrobe and a good neutral for me. It has a nice crisp appearance but is still casual and cool. The ties at the hem can be cinched a little or not, depending on how I want to style it.
Just wanted to share a successful duplication story. Have you had any that were surprising?
