My husband and I have been talking for years about getting an Airstream and being able to take off on self-contained road trips, both short ones and month-long cross-country trips.
Well, we finally bit the bullet. We put a deposit on this sweet lightly-used Airstream International Serenity, and are anxious to go get it. It's several states away, and we need a tow bar installed on his vehicle before we can make the trip. Hoping we can make the drive the end of next week.
Who knows what is in store for any kind of travel in the US in the coming months, but we will at the very least take some a couple of 3-night camping trips with the dogs to get used to it and make sure we are ready for a longer trip. Ultimately, we would like to take a trip of two months or maybe even more, exploring the western part of the country -- we both love the mountains and desert.
Of course, it also means I have a job: to decorate and outfit the trailer with everything we need to function and have a cozy home away from home! I've already been planning and making lists and saving inspiration images.
Here are a couple of photos of the camper, and a couple of my photos that are the launching point of inspiration for the decor. The finishes in the camper are neutral -- espresso leather seating and light wood walls. There is an existing yellow ginkgo leaf motif in the bathroom window, and we love the leaf/tree theme, so I'm going to use that as a starting point, along with some of my tree/leaf/nature photos in a coordinating color scheme, which I will print and display. I never use yellow for decor, but this looks like a great opportunity to use it, so my plan is to use mostly neutrals, adding yellow accents in the living and kitchen spaces, and perhaps pulling in some blue in the bed and bath. Picking out stuff like throw pillows, linens, dishes, etc., is a fun part!
Anyone here have any advice for RV decorating or living?
