Some obi belt questions

Hey ladies

I really want to add an obi belt to my wardrobe, but I'm wondering - can they be worn only with dresses or in other ways as well - with tops and skirts, to belt cardigans etc.?

I'm also wondering which belt would be easier to wear out of these two belts:
1.Narrow obi belt with ties - http://www.etsy.com/listing/81.....-wrap-belt

i dont have one but have been considering as well, so ill be watching this thread looking forward to other posters insights too!

A year ago, I used to wear obis all the time - I used to wear them to disguise the transition between my top and my skirt; so yes, I'd say you can do it

BTW: I think both belts are fine and easy to wear.

I've no experience with obi belts, but I like the first one better. I think the bulky knot on the second one might bother me.

I just got an obi belt recently and I wear it as I would any other wide belt.

I think #1 would be more versatile, as it appears you can tie it up or leave it untied, VS #2 which can only be tied up.

@Kirti: I don't think so! Lyn posted that she's got some above, but I'll think I might have an outfit photo or two on my phone with it so I'll take a look and post it if it exists. xD

The first belt looks like it would be much more flexible in terms of size, so it could be used over something bulky as well as something less so, as well as accommodate weight gains and losses. The style is more severe; I feel like the second is more feminine.

Both the belts are very nice and not TOO wide! I think you could wear them a variety of ways, not just with dresses but with pants and with skirts.

Kirti, I can even see an obi over a longer kurta or belting up a tunic over leggings! Definitely would be great with wide-leg or flared pants too.

Personally, the second one appeals to be more in terms of aesthetics, but if I were choosing, I'd still go and get the first one very likely --- simply much more versatile and classic.

I vote for the first one, Kirti. It just looks easier to manage than the second. I'll be reading this post with interest, because I've been considering trying an obi belt myself. I'm pretty belt-phobic, but the obi style is appealing for its adjustability.

Kirti, that second one looks so pretty! I recently bought a red one from that same Etsy seller. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but I have a black and a cognac obi from Nordstrom that I wear all the time! I think you'll get a lot of use out of either one!

Sorry it took so long, but I couldn't find any previous outfit photos so I wore the belt today to give you two outfits. xD I tried to give you something else than dresses, as I'm sure Lyn can provide inspiration on that front!
