I did go ahead with some items in the past
couple of months that I thought would work with casual wardrobe. A few online, at real Athleta store, and inexpensive items at TJMaxx. So much for waiting out the pandemic.
First 1-5 is the N &Z flippy skirt in black linen that Angie asked for pics of.
--Shown first with Uniqlo top in HEWI color of gray-blue, not targeting so much
for the skirt but maybe can see the skirt style. Uniqlo had these tops on sale and the color is good for near-neutral, quiet neutral that is not so severe as black and navy. I may get the navy.
--Old WHBM shirt to give more preppy vibe
--very inexpensive TJMaxx extended shoulder top to give a 2-piece dress
look. Gives a similar look to Uniqlo top so not likely to get that one in black.
--with white linen jacket which does crease, I broke my resolve to not buy
light-colored linen, as it is just so lightweight and summery
-- with TJM top that is a bit unusual for me as it is cropped with a waist tie, but I like it as a cotton knit short sleeve top with a bit of structure due to sleeves and buttons. Can semi-tuck the front and ties.
--Lastly with graphic T.
I am not a big wearer of casual skirts or dresses, so did all these tryons to see if would be versatile.
Next pic 6 is the Athleta sort of harem pants that Angie featured. Perhaps should have waited for a sale as maybe it will be an ongoing item. But I am wearing them a lot around home now. Very comfy. Shown with the same TJM short tie waist top
--7, 8 & 11 a kind of track pant/jogger from TJMaxx activewear section, in a plummy color, with a tonal T, old gray knit
blazer I still love, old oxfords. These softer neutrals and near-neutrals are a goal for at least a kind of capsule. Shown also with an old Zara metallic Tshirt I want to find more times to wear.
--9-10 --what I might or might not keep. Loooong navy shorts from Nordstrom. Typically I like to wear
lighter colored shorts for less severe contrast, but then mostly with untucked tops. For tucking there is advantage to dark colors, more forgiving in rear view. The leg width is pretty full. But I do not like the tight leg Bermuda shorts look as is common especially with denim--I need room around the thigh, but maybe these are too much? . I
think they are too long since not truly a culotte, and I thought I did a photo with hem turned up but maybe not. So thinking about if keep them, would need to hem about an inch so just at top of knee, more like the stock photo. I can't save the Find as YLF keeps telling me
to be logged in even when I am. Or maybe they are just too much shorts ?
Also in Finds, Boden striped top I am trying a 3rd size in, then giving up. Runs small. The pink T did not work, not cut for me, looked very plain also.
Comments and suggestions welcome.
