Some new additions - YouLookFab Forum

In the last few weeks I've been looking/shopping more. It's been so helpful reading Angie's blog and everyone's posts but I have to remind myself that just because I don't have a light gray shirt doesn't mean I need to go out and purchase one right now! I have a pretty small wardrobe and cycle through items regularly. Some items I really wished I had hung on to-snakeskin sandals would have been great for yesterday's look. As I mentioned before, I'm tracking my clothes through pictures for the first time and I'm also keeping notes of what to add (gray shirt, white belt, snakeskin sandals). I really need to add to my casual clothes but am quickly sidetracked by dresses. And that brings us to the new additions.

1 & 2- a Maggy London dress bought at Nordstrom. It's a true wrap and I love the fit of it. So much better on me than DVF. I will probably use some fashion tape to bring the neck up a bit. We have a few dinners coming up and this will be perfect.

3-Eileen Fischer. Comfortable, easy. Can see many uses and wears.

4-Byron Lars at Anthropologie. A pretty sexy dress (for me) with it's unusual fabric placement and hooks all the way up the dress. But still seems sophisticated to me. It's too long and my petite size seems to be sold out. I made order one size up in petite and see what that does. Thoughts?

I really need to figure out the Finds feature. Thanks everyone!

Oh wow, that Maggy London dress was made for you. The fit is perfection and you look so gorgeous in it. The Anthro dress is a beauty and looks great on you as well. The Eileen Fisher dress looks like a staple that can be worn many different ways, and usually that brand is of great quality.

Actually I agree with RL at least on the basis of these photos. But I suspect the EF dress looks better in motion. Also agree the last dress looks wonderful but might be better shorter. Love the wrap dress.

Agree with Tanya. I think the anthro dress is worth testing sizes to see what seems best.

And I'm with you on needing to figure out finds. Can you create the find from your phone?

These look terrific. The Maggie London is fabulous on you. I love the blues with your fair hair. The Anthro dress really is sexy and also ladylike -- I definitely think it's worth ordering the other size and comparing to see which you like best but I hope you keep. And Eileen Fisher stuff is high quality and versatile so that will be useful to own.

The blue wrap dress is lovely. It really suits your skin tone and hair. I could also see that it may work with different coloured accessories. So useful to have a dress that can be styled many ways. Good finds!

1-2 looks fab. I hope you are planning to keep it. I like the other two also. If the dress in 4-5 fits other than length, could you just hem it? I love EF. I think it will be a blank slate - dress it up or dress it down - very useful.

I love love dresses! These are all great and classics in their way. My favourite is the black anthro one- I love the detailing.

I also have a small wardrobe and like to wear my clothes a lot- and probably wear them out quickly.

They are all good on you but that last one? Really special. I agree with the others , try on both sizes to,see which works best but it is a keeper.

These are all great but the black lace is definitely a wow! It looks like it fits everywhere except the length, could it be hemmed?

Thanks all! I was really impressed by the Maggy London quality for the price. I admit to thinking only DVF will do for wrap dresses but after enough to try on fails I was able to open my eyes a little wider- and on sale at about 1/8th the cost I was sold! The black dress is my Eileen Fischer and in general the brand doesn't appeal to me (I'm too short and curvy) but this dress just seemed very versitle. I will see if I reach for it soon.
The black Anthro dress is a size 6. I was able to try the 4 on in store and it was way too tight. The 6 Petite is sold out according to the web and store employee. I thought to order the 8 Petite. Is that how that works- you order one size larger in the Petite size? If you order in store they will waive shipping (I really dislike paying shipping). Hemming may be tricky- there's a kick pleat in the back that could be lost. And then there's the question of where to hem- above, mid, below knee? I'm not sure I ever get that right.

#4 has lots of potential. Soooo PREETY. Try a size up like you mentioned - and make sure those hooks don't miss behave when you sit down.

Angie, thank you for chiming in too! I will try an 8P. And funny you mentioned Naughty hooks- when I went through some of the online reviews women mentioned using pliers to clamp them down a bit so they didn't open! I will wear it around the house for a bit to see how it behaves!
