I know you are all feeling sad and frustrated with the state of the global pandemic so thought I might just pass on some good things that have happened to our family this year. You might remember our older daughter’s wedding celebrations in Vietnam in late 2019. The legal wedding had been in California April 2019. And then last year our son-in-law got his US citizenship.
And this year… they had a baby daughter! Born 21 July in Walnut Creek California. Our first grandchild. So she is a US citizen too as well as an NZ citizen by descent, and will also get some rights in Vietnam eventually. Then even better for us, they decided to come live in NZ, arriving 26 November and spending a week in our Managed Isolation and Quarantine system. 4 negative Covid tests later for the triple-vaxxed adults and they were free to interact on the 6 December. One day before the first Omicron variant was detected in our MIQ system- which has not yet escaped that system. So they are living in our original house on the front of our property and I can cuddle my granddaughter and her parents to my heart’s content. I have just been wrapping up some gifts for the wee one
