GREAT time to revisit this, Jules.

Dear Canadian friends- truly sorry for the %$#*ery and hoping to restore civility, normalcy, and goodness soon!

Excellent and timely, Jules. Many thanks.

Thank you, Jules, and to everyone.

Thank you! ❤️

Helpful list! Thanks for the update.

Have any Canadians experience with uppdoo leather products? Made in Toronto with a shop in that city. (I can’t seem to do links to sites these days. Not sure what’s up.) Anyway, I’m interested in the origami large tote bag pictured below.

I’ll have to visit their shop on Bloor when next I’m in the Big City!

Sad update. Parkhurst wool knitting mills is closing later this year after 99 years in business. The spring deliveries are their last. They are the source of all my berets. *cry*

Sorry for the delay in responding- thanks everyone, truly, for your therapeutic reaponses. I was in Barcelona for a glorious week of local and Euro brand shopping and mostly avoiding North American news

Runcarla, what a gorgeous bag! I was not familiar with that brand but will definitely check out the store next time I’m in the area. Now I’m a little less sad about passing on some European leather items because it gives me something to look forward to Sorry to hear about Parkhurst, that’s truly disappointing

I had totally forgotten Poppy Barley was Canadian owned and designed (and b corp certified) and now I need to replace my leather gloves - considering these:

Pricey, but perhaps perfect and perhaps I need to put my money where my mouth is!

Carla so sorry to hear about Parkhurst -- I vote you check their sales for any other colours you might conceivably want and add these to your wardrobe pronto -- those berets are your signature!

Gorgeous gloves, Jules!

I’m going add a recommendation for what have become my favourite cold weather socks. They are a mostly merino/cashmere blend: warm, soft, seem to provide just a bit of extra padding and comfort for walking, and just putting them on is a treat! I’ll confess I often put them in the dryer and they are holding up well (but now that I’ve read the care instructions I will try to be better about this):

I also like these cotton ones:

Is anyone familiar with Kamik clogs? I’m looking for an alternative to Sloggers, which I have for garden clogs and find super comfortable. I’ve always wanted an indoor pair and I currently have some arch and lower back pain that I think they would help with,

As I type this I realize I should first try my Birks Bostons instead (I already have Birkenstock Evas and moccasins as house shoes and not a lot of room…). But I still think these are quite cute:

Jules, I have never tried the clogs but when I lived in Ontario I had Kamik snow boots which were great. Very warm.

Thanks Suz… I’m happy to have Kamik back on my radar but realized I truly can’t justify another pair of shoes as I have too many for my storage and they end up tossed in baskets and tucked away out of sight out of mind… today’s goal is to dig up those Bostons
Just found this brand of leather gloves and other winter accessories, they have elegant looking leather gloves rated to -15C:

Hi friends, just adding Marcelle to the list for those looking for skincare or makeup. I had to replace my mascara and Ilia multi stick, and the Marcelle products I chose (ultimate lash mascara and lip loving lipstick, which I also use as blush) are top notch. Some of my skin lotions and potions are due to be refilled soon so I will be trying some of Marcelle's offering for that too!

Thanks Helena I had no idea! And I see they have a CC cream with spf which is a product I’m always looking for (my current option is very spendy).

I was pleasantly surprised to discover my Marcelle 30 SPF sheer tint moisturizer was made in Canada! Also, Riversol skin care - which I’ve panned and replenished since discovering (serum and moisturizer). It’s spendy, but I restock on seniors (55+) discount days at 20% off, and my favoured pharmacy has customer appreciation sales (25% off) from time to time.

Also, Di Morelli skincare - made in Canada.

AG and Marc Anthony hair care products too. All things I already use and love!

More great tips thanks Runcarla!

I used some PC credit card points to order the Marcelle CC cream and an eyebrow pencil from Shoppers. On sale, the cream was about half the price of my COOLA BB cream and better packaging for my purse and travel (smaller and plastic instead of glass).

And, it’s great! Reminds me a lot of a L’Oreal product I loved that got discontinued years ago. It’s a little more matte than the COOLA which has more of a glow/dewy effect. I can see the promised blurring and dark spot coverage effects and it has the right amount of pigment for me.

Thank you Helena, this is a great find for me!

Just came across mypaume.ca which is made in Canada anti-aging hand cream. Personally I take issue with the idea my naturally aging hands need fixing, but I do love hand and nail creams

Poppy Barley has a warehouse sale on (requires email sign up to access)… surprisingly good availability for me in my size 9… clothing and accessories too. Pretty dangerous for someone who is not supposed to be shopping!

Thank you very much for this!
I had no idea of many of these name brands!

I have looked into Poppy Barley b/c they carry size 12! They have pop up stores, but none have been convenient so far.

Lots to look into!

I haven't seen this one mentioned, but Jac by JC is based in Vancouver, with a store in Richmond that I plan to check out soon. I remember the Jacqueline Conoir line from years ago, hopefully the same quality is still there.

I ordered two bras from Caroquilla last week and loving them so far - so comfortable and surprisingly supportive (I’m size 16 and around a 38D, so kinda ‘mid’ size in that area). The brand is Canadian owned and designed but not made in Canada that I can tell.

Boutique Martino released a cute casual bag for spring - makes me wish I liked Lilac a bit better for myself!

After earning some store credit at a sporting goods store (sold items at their spring gear swap) I ‘bought’ myself a new, Made in Canada, Tilley hat!

A classic for sure!

I made two Canadian brand purchases I’m excited about:
(Edit: oops, I just realized i already posted about the bras! Added info about the underwear ) Bras from Caroquilla (Canadian owned/designed but not made in Canada). I’ve been wanting a non-underwire, less structured bra for a while. I thought these might just be for relaxed wear but they are surprisingly supportive and a good fit for me. I used their size chart and fit guidance. I didn’t have as good luck with their high rise brief underwear which while comfortable indent at my thick waist. They are great quality however.

At a local market, I discovered a new made in Toronto denim brand called Form Era and got these fab barrel pants!
The cuts are all for people with small waist/hip ratio and a couple of styles didn’t work for me for this reason.
