I just love the way Christine Scaman, who uses the Sci-Art color analysis system, writes. I've gained so much knowledge from her http://12blueprints.com website. The link below is especially helpful for me. I can totally see myself wearing all the colors in her Polyvores. In fact, most of those colors are already in my closet.

Her thoughts on Soft coloring are spot on. This describes my coloring perfectly:

"Something that comes up often for me is that I see many who are very borderline Soft Summer/Soft Autumn. They’re like the neutralest of the Neutrals, positioned almost even between those two Neutral Seasons. To see the eyes alone, you’ll pick the warmer Season for sure, except that the skin yellows with drapes. On these women, silver (not overly cold and shiny) and gold (not overly yellow and shiny) are about equal."

Some of this resonates with me. I often see both warm and cool tones in my skin and I cand wear both silver and gold jewelry. From what I have read in your posts it seems like maybe you are edging into soft summer. I'm a soft autumn and often need to wear a blended colour palette. The polyvores show some good ideas for you to try with colour combos. Good luck with your continued quest.

Thanks. For me, finding the right makeup colors was the most difficult part. Seems like most colors are too warm or too cool or too dark or too light or too bright or too muted. Finding the perfect colors is very tricky, especially when it comes to blush.

Yes actually I never feel wholly happy with my blush. It can either look too muddy or too bright. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect foundation too. I have wasted so much money over the years on it. My quest continues.

this is great, thank you. I too can wear gold and silver. It has really taken me a very long time to find a blush that I liked. But I am very happy with it I have now and surprisingly it was a softish coral color !

I've often wondered if it was worth trying the make-ups from the Colour Me Beautiful website? They are supposed to be formulated to be flattering for the various colour types. I might take the plunge as the blusher I'm on at the moment is running very low.

Hmm...I don't know. Some women love it. I have found that I need to change blush during the seasons. I need something "warmer" in the winter.

If you go that route, please let us know how it goes.

I wear both gold and silver jewelry, though I have a slight preference for silver. Most of my jewelry is silver. Also, the gold jewelry I wear is either very muted (gold from Peru and from Jordan, which is not as bright or as yellow as the gold sold here in the U.S.) and has a matte finish or is in a two-tone (gold/silver) combo. My wedding band set is actually a mix of yellow and white gold.

DianeG - I'm a Soft Autumn as well, and I've always had the hardest time with foundation. Everything turned orange on me, or too pink. I finally found the Even Better liquid foundation in "Linen" from Clinique - it's extremely neutral, and matches my skin perfectly. Clinque has quite a few neutral colors - might be worth taking a look.

Also, the Elea Blake company does makeup specifically for each of the 12 season Sci/Art categories (Soft Summer, Soft Autumn, etc.) I have the SA bronzer, and I quite like it.

I wanted to post during the weekend, but internet service was out and I had to wait for the technician to come fix it. Anyhoo...

I feel vindicated, to say the least! After ordering and receiving the Sci-Art Soft Summer swatch book from Indigo Tones, I was beginning to wonder if I'm a Soft Summer after all. I just don't relate to that color palette, which is mostly pastels. When I saw the polyvores below, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I wear most of these colors:

I can wear pastels, but only if combined in prints with darker colors.

That's great. Those look lovely. It sounds like you need a bit of ummph in your colour combo's and those are quite lively pictures and good inspiration.

@ transition: I'm glad this helps. I don't know if it's because I'm a visual learner or not, but I'm getting a lot more answers from the polyvores than I ever got from reading all those color analysis books and blogs. As a matter of fact, I think the polyvores are better than the swatch books because I can see various color combinations.

I'm relieved to discover that being a soft summer doesn't mean being washed out in pastels. I have not really ever gotten along much with pastels and I think they wash me out and make me look too old and tired. I'm excited to try out some of these shades I don't normally wear, like pine and watermelon. The polyvores are really helpful. I'm ready to look my best!
