Through a random series of Facebook connections I lucked into a last minute spot on a photography workshop for the eclipse
The group are definitely leaps and bounds above my level, but they seem nice.

This is Detroit Lake in the Oregon Cascades. Mt Jefferson in the background. That is not a cloud to the right, it's smoke. Unfortunately there are many forest fires nearby, hopefully the wind will be in our favor
