Last weekend while I was downtown I walked by All Saints & this shirt was on a mannequin.
Third row, far left.

Admittedly it's a man, but still, a neck tattoo doesn't make this Hawaiian shirt edgy or cool. Ironic dressing is over too, so they missed that boat.

Looking at the website it's pretty much a snooze fest or stuff that other designers have done before.
I wonder how long they'll keep the downtown Seattle location. It's prime real estate & very large. I very rarely see people in there or carrying their bags

That makes me sad... I had just discovered Allsaints. I can't afford much from there, but like the idea of getting a special piece from time to time. I also love the vibe of the one store I have been in. Maybe they are just in a slump and will do better next season. One can hope... I looked at the shirt you are talking about. It does seem a little odd but I don't mind it as much as the darker shirt just above it (second row far left).

This is too bad. We just got an AllSaints here (albeit a small one), which I'm pleased about, and I have visited the downtown Seattle one quite a few times. I remember thinking, the first time I went in there, "Where has this shop been my whole life?".

I did try on a few pairs of jeans at our AllSaints last December, but they all fit very very badly on me. I agree that their new stuff isn't anything special.

I actually quite like the blue, ecru, and blush floral shirt directly below that one. I don't know if it is too much of a departure from All Saints original lane though, like you say. I feel like I've seen more high end palm print and tropical floral shirts on young edgy guys with arm and neck tattoos and the pattern mixing between body and shirt can be pretty interesting to me. Admittedly it did come from hipsters originally.

A few years ago I did dig up and post about the buy out.
Rabbit I didn't know about the Hawaiian shirt trend. Interesting the first one looks vintage judging by the open collar.
But hipster has been mainstreamed & commodified for a while now. All Saints wasn't originally hipster.

I'm reading a book now about Jamaica, and this reminds me of secret agents hanging out there in Hawaiian shirts, as if this made them look like tourists instead of spooks in Hawaiian shirts... Anyways, I don't think I mind the look; I just think you can do it for $12, shopping from street vendors.

I've had another thought... I think brands are having a hard time evolving their signature styles. Instead they all seem to be SWITCHING styles. I don't know the source of this difficulty.

I should like All Saints but aside from one dress ordered 9 years ago I have none of their pieces.

On the whole I find the pieces are not special enough in terms of quality or design to justify the price.

I've never been a fan of All Saints for my own style - generally too dark, neutral, and hard edged - but enjoyed taking clients there and loved dressing them in "the look". (Club Monaco, despite their very neutral palette, is a much better fit for my style because the garments are prettier. I can always find something at CM to love!).

Greg used to do really well in the All Saints mens department because he loved the palette and their clever casual design details. But now that they have taken the guts out of their garments, it's not worth the price. Too ho hum. Greg hasn't bought items from All Saints in three years and is still wearing the heck out of his old stash.

Can't believe they're showing that much color! Not my thing at all.

Just can't believe "Allsaints" and "Hawaiian shirt" can be used in the same sentence -- a sentence that doesn't even include the words "unlikely" or "never."
