I'm wondering how these have worked for people in the past. Seems like we'd have to decide what sort of a day to have - more chatting, or shopping? Or something else? What sort of location? Will wait to hear everyone's thoughts.

I'm in Melbourne so count me in. Sharon would be amazing if you could make it. I'll be away for all of July but will be back after that. Chadstone is an amazing mall with everything from Kmart to Gucci stores. However with the new renovations to the city Myer and David Jones (and the recently opened Zara), that just can't be beat!!

This is what happens when I dont come on here every day like I used to but it's great to see some new Aussies on here! I would LOVE to come but sadly I dont think I will be able to. I have holidays booked in August to go skiing at Perisher so I dont know if my wallet will extend to flying from Brissy for the weekend. But a Zara visit and a trip back to my hometown may just tempt me...........

(Apologies - I just saw this post for the first time and my brain is fuzzy after a Saturday night glass of wine. Naughty, I know! ;-))

When are you planning the get together in Melbourne? I'm possibly thinking that if Tam can fly to Brisneyland for a day, then surely I can wangle a FIFO trip to Melbourne to shop with you all? If I was to get the bus from the airport into the city, would one of you perchance be able to meet me at the stop? (Pretty please with lots of sugar on top!)

Let me know your proposed dates and I'll have a look at cheapy flights....

After last year, I know I *love* YLF get togethers - (Now, I'm off to sweet talk my husband into minding the kids for a day and to finish my glass of wine! :-))

(Right, sorry about this 10 minute later silly post. Have now finished glass of wine... ;-))

Have spoken (already) to the best hubby in the world who has said "Well, actually Kate, I was going to say that I wanted to go to the State of Origin in Sydney next year, so how about we call it even if you go to Melbourne?"

Then, even better, he thought about it for a moment and has now just said that provided his parents are back from UK (they get back to Aus in late July), he'll ask them to mind the kids, and fly to Melbourne with me and make a weekend of it. Yippeee!

I'm hoping you aren't thinking that I'm being a tad control freaky, but I've listed the dates where I have work and will be unavailable below from July - Sep: 9/7; 16/7 (my birthday!); 30/7; 13/8; 20/8; 3/9 (my son's birthday); 24/9. (Basically, it works out to be every second weekend.)

Do any of my free dates (ie, the other weekends) suit you all? I'd like to put in a personal vote for August, just because it falls outside of school holidays...

Of course, I understand if you want it earlier than that!

OK, based on Tam's feedback and me being cheeky with dates, I'm going to take a first stab with a proposed meetup date...

How about (drum-roll please....)

Saturday, 27th of August?

Yes, how did you know my hubby's reason for wanting to come too? (Hubby is a mad Carlton supporter, and the lure of finals and them finally making the cut was too much to bear <tee-hee!>.)

The tentative plan at this stage is that we'll ask his mum and dad to mind the kidlets for the weekend. We'll aim to fly down on Friday night, have a great night out then on Saturday (I'm assuming this is the day we'll catch up) he has said "you go out with the girls, I'm going to the footy/catch up with some mates". We'll then reunite and hang out on the town Saturday night and fly home Sunday.

I would expect that we'll stay somewhere city-ish, so if we could meet somewhere where I'll be able to find you, that would be wonderful (as we won't have a car).

How does that date feel to others?

How about Saturday, 6 August? (Am being a tad sneaky here admittedly. Carlton vs Melbourne at the MCG at 2.10pm... <tee-hee> ;-))

Otherwise Saturday 10 September? I think it gets a bit tricky for us after that. Do either of these days suit everyone? How *exciting* to be making plans!

KP exciting! Love the way men can be lured into these things!!! 6th aug may just work.....it will be close to the time I'm due back in the country. I don't mind any of the other above dates, but Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August no good for me. City sounds perfect, every store is there plus Zara. And good food too!!! KP dont worry about location/direction - we'll look after you!!!

I'm wondering how to make sure people are notified - I find threads get bumped down really quickly sometimes. I wonder how Angie/Greg would feel about stickying meet threads so they are always seen?

Puffenstuff I'm so sorry August clashes with your holidays! Maybe you could discuss with Katiepea (and any other interstaters) to see if anything works? You are the ones we need to be flexible for.

OT but how do you ladies manage your forum tracking? I'm used to forums where I receive email notifications when people reply to a thread I'm in; here the only way I know is to look at my forum posts and see if they've been updated. I don't check all my pages so I sometimes don't realise someone's replied for ages. Any advice appreciated!

Yublocka it would be great to catch up with you too. Perhaps in the more distant future the Melbournites/Victorians could also do some mini-meets i.e. boutiquey/thrifty/strip shop local gatherings?

I will try to log on and continue to check in while on holiday. At this stage most dates should be fine for me. I really don't mind when we meet so August or September are fine. I can move commitments around if I need to. BTW I am sitting at The Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport having breakfast as we wait on our delayed flight to Singapore. Flight has been bumped from 11.00am to 2.40 pm...fun fun fun xxx

YAY - more people to get together, how exciting!

Allright, hope you don't mind me suggesting this Fruitful, but how about I propose the two dates that I came up a couple of posts above and you all write YAY or NAY beside each date for whether you can attend.

If you want to come, but can't do either date, please propose another date.

This way we can narrow down the attendance list and the actual day and those of us who need to travel can get excited booking flights!
