So, what's the verdict on peep-toe boots?

I thought I would ask the opinion of all the lovely ladies of this forum: what do you think of peep-toe boots? Are they silly, or cute? You see, when they first came out a year ago (or was it two?), my feeling was that they looked weird and seriously impractical. However, I recently saw a darling pair that I can't help but like, but now I'm wondering if I'm, you know, losing the plot.

Do any of you own a pair? If so, how do you wear them? Do they get much wear, or do they mostly sit in your closet? For those of you that don't have a pair but do have an opinion, I'd be interested to hear it as well.

I love them, although I don't own a pair...... yet I would wear them during the spring while the weather is warming up a bit, but not yet too hot for closed shoes.

I just can't get behind them. I'm of the opinion that if it is warm enough for peep-toes, it is too warm to wear a boot.

I like them as long as they are heeled. I own some, and they are great for cool days that aren't wet. If you live in a soggy place (which I do) they're not practical for as many days as somewhere that's not so soggy. Mine are ankle-height, and I wear them just as I would any other similar boot

They are pricey, so I want to think carefully about it. You see, I have a Fluevog gift certificate from Christmas that I have not yet spent, and it's burning a hole in my pocket! But I don't want to blow it on a pair of shoes that I might not wear much, however beautiful they are.

I am too practical to own such a pair. However, I love the look on others if they can pull it off. Definitely an edgy look. Do make sure you have an outfit planned to wear with it. Probably not going to be a super versatile boot, so think about how many outfits and how often you'd wear them.

A great BIG YAY from me. I own 2 pair and wear them all year round - but then, I live in So. CAL - I wear them in the winter with tights and skirts/dresses - or with jeans. In the summer I wear them in the evenings (when its cooler) bare-legged with skirts/dresses. I LOVE them and get zillions of compliments on them whenever I wear them. I find that they are very versatile and can be worn both as "shoes" and as "boots."

WOW! Your boots "in question" shouldn't be in question! They look amazing - I have this stuff you stick in your boots to keep your feet from sliding down; I use them for my wedge sandals

Thanks for weighing in, ladies. I'm heading downtown today with my honey (yay! he has a much-needed day off!), so I'll try them on and see whether I feel goofy wearing them.

Steph, your opinion is in line with what mine used to be. But now I've seen THESE boots, and I think I'm changing my mind.....

Aida, I agree -- flat open-toed boots aren't my cuppa, either.

Marley, I see what you mean about how they are both boot-like and shoe-like, which does make them more versatile. Unfortunately, unlike you, I live in a rainy climate -- so they won't be as versatile for me!

cloud9, I was going to wear them under bootcut jeans, mostly. Unfortunately that means you won't see the beautiful detailing unless I sit down. But I wear jeans a lot, so that way they would get a lot of wear. I hope.

Angie, what do you mean by feet that can handle the peep toes? Do you mean in terms of toes getting cold? Or in terms of having nice toes?

Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm heading out today!

When I clicked the link I got a general page with lots shoes, so I'm not sure what peeptoes you're looking at, but I love 'em, and wear this pair often - not pricey, so they were a good jumping off point to see if I'd like them.
