So I got feather extensions today...

and even though I know the trend has gone a bit crazy, I love them and already want more.
I've wanted them since I first saw them several months ago but was waiting for the summer. Then my 11 year old niece some and then I began too think I was too old to get them. But you know what, everyone thinks I am younger than I am anyway, so I figured why not take advantage of that?!?

And it's totally OK if they aren't your cup of tea...I know that I tend to have "different" tastes.

So, did you see the NYT article about the shortage of feathers for fly fishermen because of the demand by fashionistas? I thought this was very interesting.

Sarah, that article really was fascinating. I'm sure the fly fishermen can't wait for the trend to die. However, I'm totally grossed out that the poor roosters are killed so they can be plucked for their feathers.

I love this look! I read that article too and found it fascinating...

Does anyone know whether you can get temporary ones? Like, clip in or something. I'd like to try this look but do not really want to commit to getting a semi-permanent extension put in. As a plus, I bet a temporary one could be made of fake feathers... I understand that for an extension you'd have to use something you could blow dry and style and wash, but for a clip-in you wouldn't have those restrictions.

Diana, I did a google search and found a bunch. The ones from Sephora look like they are kind of similar to what seems to be popular right now. (Although they are made from real rooster feathers...but I didn't really look long, so maybe some other options are not.)

I had no idea this was even a thing! I have bucket loads of the things as Mr Annette is an avid fisherman and ties his flys. Perhaps I shall be the first in my backwards town to have them!
