This is the first time Ive ever seriously looked for boots and Im shocked at what few choices there are for wide width (in foot) boots. I really want a pair of slouch boots...I did get a XXW from Woman Within and they are too narrow and being moleskin I know they wont stretch...Most of the sites Ive looked at have hardly any slouch boots- I need mid-calf....Ive checked Zappos, Shoebuy, 6 pm, Nordstroms....any suggestions where I could look would be appreciated!

It's still really early for fall merchandise. Wait a month, and your choices will have multiplied exponentially.

Really? Thats good to hear....I may be doing something wrong in the 'search' areas...so many, many times I put in ww slouch boot and it comes up with almost all medium widths! Thanks for answering...

Do you need boots with a wide foot or a wide calf? If you have a wide calf, check out http://www.widewidths.com. If you have a more ordinary calf width but still need some width in the footbed, try Naturalizer.
It's also very easy to search by width on Zappos.
I echo the others that the fall selections aren't out yet, so patience is key.

Thanks for writing, Michelle! I dont know if I need wide calf- its about 15" inches wide where the boot top comes, but I definitely need wide or double wide width in foot....Im so glad to hear Im just early- I was afraid I wouldnt find any that would work for me! Thanks for the info too.....

I would definitely give Naturalizer a try. Their calf-widths sound like they'd be in line for you, and they offer most of their shoes in various widths.

Do you usually wear W's in footwear? Or are you after something for a wider calf?

If it is wide calves you are talking about, I just saw a pair of wide calf boots on the Nordstrom website. Perhaps they have more and different wide calf styles too.

Angie, I dont know if I need wide calf- mine are about 15 1/2" where the boot top is (looking for slouch mid-calf boots) but I really need wide or double wide in widths, so its a really limited selection that Ive seen so far....San, I'll check it out- thanks!

San -- that's fascinating! I didn't know Frye made wide calf styles. Now they need to offer size 12 and I'll be happy...

biscuitsmom, if you're near a Nordstrom Rack I'd go there and try a bunch of boots on. I've found wide calf boots there before.
