So. Cal. Meet-up Set for Oct. 25-27. R U Ready for OC? It's a Date.

Are you ready for a little So. Cal. Shopping with the So. Cal. Kitty Cats?

We think it’s high time to announce our annual So. Cal. Shoptoberfest and we’re thinking of Sept. 13-15 for a few reasons. Rae, MaryK and Marley recalled that Anna and Zap have airline tickets and schedules that must be completed before October, so that’s why we’re thinking of September rather than October. I guess this means we really should be calling our meet-up event the Shoptemberfest this year!

It would be so exciting to have some of our regulars back like Aida, AJ and Claire (who roomed together, and had not met until that moment, at our first OC meet-up for those of you who want a little YLF history!), as well as Isabel, Kari, Mochi, Natalie, Una and Zap. Plus, there was mention that Sveta may be able to head down this way, too, for the first time! All are welcome and we’d love to have anyone who’s interested! I haven’t mentioned you “locals,” but you know who you are (Denise, JulieJohn, Khris and Tarzy to name a few).

I'd be willing to host a welcome gathering here so we’re nourished for our shopfest. Rae, MaryK and Marley said they would be happy to help me in this regard.

So, let’s get things rolling and see if this weekend works for a number of you! If there is flexibility to include October, these two other weekend dates may work: Oct. 11-13 and Oct. 25-27.

Can you tell we’re EXCITED??? The kitties await and are ready to prowl! ^_^

LOL Sylvie! We should definitely arrange an SF get-together one of these days.

It's funny, the best dates for me are the alternate weekends from the ones listed! But I will try to make something happen this time around.

I unfortunately am not going to be able to make it this year, as much as I'd love to (or in November either, as I'd discussed coming down then during B's trip to LA.) I have an international trip coming up that's been in the works for a year and a half, and I'm now in a contract position where I won't have any paid time off from work, so I just need to be realistic about what expenses should be top priorities. I hope that I will be able to join you another year and am very sad to miss out this time around.

Oh, this is going to be good! How exciting to have some of our regulars back and to welcome a few new ones. Claire, you look fabulous in anything, including desert wear, but I'd rather see you flying or driving as we need you to be flexible enough to lift a leg on any counter you choose to show off all possible shoe purchases!

Kari, I completely understand about your work and trip requirements and I wish we could sneak you in with your B's trip. We'll see you next time. AJ, you'll be missed, too, so keep us on your radar as your schedule permits. You know how we roll! Tarzy, hope we see you.

I will probably not be able to do much shopping, but the get-together sounds just my speed! I was a little shy last year, and you all were so nice to me. I look forward to seeing you all again!

Oh my gosh. This is exciting! I'm probably okay for all those dates at the moment, but obviously will want to nail everything here since we would be combining this with a visit to our daughter, and husband would therefore be scheduling days off and accompanying me. So hopefully we can decide on a date soon. I can't wait!

So what airport would be the closest?

cciele, the closest airport would be Orange County (also known with code SNA, Santa Ana, and at times known as John Wayne), which is 10 minutes from my home. Next closest would be Long Beach (35 minutes away), which is the hub for Jet Blue, among a few others. LAX, is 45 minutes to one hour away from OC, depending on traffic on the 405. I don't travel out of Ontario, but I think it's about 45 minutes away, so it's probably the same distance as LAX.

I definitely cannot do the weekend of 11-13 of Oct ( I have a wedding to attend ). The other weekends look good.

Oh, Anna, I'm happy it's your birthday weekend, but we don't want to add to the dilemma. Hmmm. Let's see. Will Oct. fill the bill?

Hi guys, I am going to have to wait until a final date is announced The first two dates look better for me but it all depends on whether I can use the voucher. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Zap, does that mean Oct. is a possibility for you? If it is, I have a slight preference for October, just because I found out there is a double points event at work in Sept... meaning they may not allow me to take a second weekend off (I have a wedding that month as well).

Of course since I live here, I could possibly meet up before or after work, even if they don't let me take the entire weekend!

Only oct 11-13, that is if I recall last year's date correctly.

My ticket is only good for a year.

Bumping this so we can get the date nailed down asap. So far it looks as though either September 13 -15, or October 25 - 27 are the best.

FYI, it is much more convenient to fly into John Wayne airport in O.C. - traffic is not near as bad as L.A. - and it is much closer to shopping destinations than Ontario. Also, the out-of-towners had managed (in the past) to find good hotel rates that are very close to the O.C. airport. Als0 - Vicki lives in the O.C. and her house is conveniently located very close to major shopping areas.
