So about those Leith woven trousers...

I was smitten with these when Angie first posted about them and popped them into her store. Then after reading unfrumped's review of them and seeing them on her in those fab outfits, I am even more so.

Now I know I said I was not going to do the international ordering thing, but I have not seen anything like these in our Canadian stores (either online or brick and mortar) and might be willing to break my self-imposed rule for this item.

However, I'm curious to know what y'all think of these for me - I'm not worried about the style per se as I have totally embraced the slouchy look. I am concerned however about that particular waist style on my less than slim mid section - will I just look short and squat, or worse, pregnant?

I bought them in a medium and it makes my large mid waist look slim!!

I have such a hard time saying without seeing them on you!

Do you think the Canadian retailers will get them as the season progresses so you can try them without the huge expense of them not working?

I think you just have to ride them low, so that the drawstring waist is not *at* your midsection. Should be fine if you slouch as per a bf jean, I think!

As for waiting it out to see if Canada gets the style in later, I do not know. I hope others may have better knowledge of Canadian stores and their habits.

I'm on the fence about these pants for myself as well. I'm curious if the elastic waist will make them slide back to the waist even if worn low?

That's exactly what I'm worried about AJ - and because my waist is very high, if they keep wanting to slide up, things are gonna get mighty unattractive in a hurry!

Parsley - that would be wonderful if you could let me know how they work out.

Thistle - it's really hard to say if Canadian retailers will get on board with this style. We always seem to be slightly behind our American counterparts in the style department.

I'll bet Zara has something similar (or will have) but then you don't have Zara in W'peg and I don't have it in K'town.

I'd like these, too, Shannon. Sheesh. Maybe we should combine forces.

Shannon, for me the wider waistband was a selling point. It tends to stay where it's put and has that "girdling effect" which helps me for pants that ride lower than my natural waist. When you adjust the drawstring, it tends to stay put even if not tied tightly,

Wonder if this would help--what if you could go to a store locally that has nylon jogging pants, real track pants, wind pants --here that would be TJMaxx, Target, Sports Authority and those type places--and find some types with about a 2" adjustable waistband and play with how that fits and feels. Of course the rest of the silhouette of those pants isn't what you're going for, you'd have to use your imagination and push & pull the fabric around. You wear a bit of heel better than I do and that also does wonders for the legline of these pants.

What size are you? What I can do is to order a pair for you, hold it here ( in the US) while more members get their pairs, that way you can still make up your mind without the risk of them selling out. If you end up not wanting them, I can return and no harm done. let me know if you are interested and if so, please PM me your size.

Shannon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to risk it and order them, and I NEVER order anything that's processed by FiftyOne1!!11eleventy or whatever that company is called. That's how much those pants are calling to me! I don't trust any Canadian retailers to get something comparable in any time this year, at least not at a price point I can stomach. Maybe Zara, but who knows? And Zara gives me a headache.

When Nordstrom is opening in Canada? I think it is VERY long overdue...
I don't know Shannon, after Suz's horrendous experience with FiftyOne I would be very hesitant...and Zara is pretty much not an option for my size, especially in bottoms... but you are on the weight loss so there is a hope for you!

Shannon I am sure you will be able to find ones like this to experiment with in Canada. So you don't have to go through the agony of international shipping.

Have you tried H&M? I saw some slouchy black cropped trousers (on you and me they are regular length). I got some from H&M in July and LOVE them.

shannon, i am a short pear with a tummy and thighs. i want to order these, but fear that the i will lose visual leg length if i can't show some calf to balance the above the knee pouf. instead of edgy, i am concerned that i will be frumptastic instead.

if i were you, given the disappointment at the loss of dollars, i would not chance it.

I appreciate all of your replies - sweet Zapotee has offered to help me out and has ordered them on my behalf and will ship them to me. I've decided to risk the cost of the trousers anyway because I really don't see anything like these locally, unfortunately.

Nordstrom - if you hear me, please PLEASE find a way, when you open the Canadian stores you have planned, to make Canadian shipping more reasonable. WE LOVE YOU!!!

Denise - unfortunately, my home town doesn't have H&M either and shipping is just as pricey

Ariadne - poor Suz ordered some items for the Christmas party season and they never, ever arrived.

I will say that I have never had a problem getting my order from FiftyOne, I just find the service incredibly expensive.

Canadian ladies, if you have a good idea of your size (and I can help guide you based on trying them on), I can pop back by Nordies and pick up a pair for you to mail to you, and you can reimburse me via paypal or whatever. Sounds like that would be less hassle and less expensive than international retail shipping!

The Nordstrom four miles away from me had at least a couple pairs of mediums, a small, and I think a large or two.

So I ordered both the L(12), I am typically a 10/12 in skirts and pants, and XL(14/16) thinking I'd keep the best fit. The XL was delivered first and I was very please with the drape, loose and easy fit. Keepers.

Yesterday the L came and I spent some time playing around with these, the only real difference being there was a shorter rise/less crotch drop. I wore this size lower on my hips to get more leg inseam length because of my height and long legs. I am not an apple shape, but an 8 shape hour glass, which means I carry my hip weight high up and there is a ledge from my waist to my hip. I was concerned that wearing these pants lower on my largest part would be both unflattering and that the pants would want to constantly ride up to my natural waist. After wearing around the house, I am keeping both pairs. The wide elasticized waistband keeps them in place nicely -- along with my Shimera underwear http://youlookfab.com/store/20.....t-panties/. One of the issues that people noted about these underwear (on the Nordies site reviews) is that they drag on certain fabrics. It is true, but in this case the drag helped keep the waistband of these silky smooth pants from moving and sliding around. So just a thought and tip for any apples concerned about these pants constantly riding up over the tummy. The type of underwear you wear may solve -- or make worse -- that issue for you, if it is even an issue.

Claudia - I can't thank you enough for this invaluable information and review. I've ordered both the L and XL as well since I'm not sure of the size for me and suspect I will also be keeping both.
