SERIOUS competition. Almost every mannequin in Nordies styled with sneakers. Sneakers EVERYWHERE.

Mules might be the shoe of the season, but sneakers are the shoe of our modern fashion era. And I have mixed feelings about that. Both very good - and not good at all.

Yippee! And the manquins aren't even walking anywhere!!!Since I can't wear mules as they fall off m feet and I have to ignore this trend anyhow. Besides sneakers are comfy, and there are so many varieties of styles and colors....

Looks like white is the color to get,but I wore them so much in the 90s that people might think I haven't changed shoes.

Love that display! And yay for all the sneakers! I'm wearing them extra often these days because they work really well with my orthotics (and I'm loving the look too), so this is music to my ears.

I love the display. I love the outfits. I actually don't find sneakers that comfortable. I am the Queen of problem feet. I will continue wearing my Birkies.

I checked out my students' shoes this morning. Apart from a few who were still wearing their winter booties, all of them (man and woman included) were wearing sneaks. Black & gray were the colors of choice.

Well, like anything , it's all in the styling and intent , right? I love them, always have, and always will. The challenge is in continuing to look fresh and modern by keeping up with the changes in this category.

I would have expected some mules on these mannequins!

I feel OK about this trend, although I think with my 2 pairs of sneakers, I'm maxed out. By contrast, I don't think I could ever max out on dressier shoes.

Love that display and while I have mixed feelings about any one shoe dominating, I do think sneakers are fun.

My feet would be very happy in a sneak- mule hybrid that would stay on my bony feet. And to think that the mannequin dressers would need to take extra time to lace and tie those sneakers. For me sneakers are a transitional shoe that gets too warm in hot weather. Mules are for hot weather as they are more open.

I share your ambivalence. I'm drawn to the look of interesting sneakers, especially unusual Converse types, but my feet love my wide-toed, lightweight, deep-foam-innersoled mesh Sketchers--not a fashion look on me! I compromise by wearing the Chucks casually out and about, and the Sketchers at home. Neither looks polished to me, though. I have to wear real leather shoes or boots (not mules) for that.

It might just be the time of year and display. The big Topshop display in TO was much like the one you show - lots of jean items mixed with lace, florals, and boho elements. JCrew has 'activewear'. Express was jeans based as well with cold shoulder tops. Sneaks show to advantage with this look. Since students have been rotating through their reading weeks at uni and college and the high schools, etc. are due for their spring breaks any day now, I was wondering if maybe the marketing is geared to them as they flood the malls? I think sneaks would be the 20-and-under footwear of choice.

I don't mind wearing sneaks, but I've never been crazy about pure white ones. Seems like that's the trend, so it looks like I'll still buck the trend somehow!

I would love some rose gold sneakers.

After reading the comments on this thread, I went back to look beyond the sneakers at the outfits. Talk about the kitchen sink! Now I want to spend the summer in lace midi skirts or tights, frayed denim and white sneakers.

I do like sneakers, and I have a white leather pair so I am okay with it...but when something is at saturation point we all begin to tire of it so I suspect many won't want white leather sneakers next year. So I will wear mine often and enjoy them this year!!

I am more a non-white sneaker person but the white sneaker thing has been sticking. I represent the mule preferring minority!

Love these all, BUT cannot even consider to wear them with my office wardrobe as it is at the moment:-(, -so that is not good at all!! But, it's good to see the younger generations not killing themselves in heels. I am also happy to think that I could wear them, too- if having the right clothing pieces- and still look/feel me stylish(and not frumpy!). Our feet need comfort for living a longer healthier active life!

I have indulged in a lot of sneakers in the past couple of years so I am glad to see they are still kicking. But I cannot do mules, and I still love heels (of the block variety), so I will never be a one woman shoe.

Love all the outfits, and would probably wear the most without sneakers. These type of out ft inspiration is why I bought my white Stan Smiths at last year's NAS, but they are not getting much wear. I guess I am just not sporty and prefer dressier shoes. I have bought high top white leather Converse for this season and will see how that goes, but since I am already itching to wear them I am guessing much better. The issue with Stan Smiths was, with super skinny calves and ankles and them being sze 8, I felt my feet looked enormous.

While I need sneakers in my life, regardless of trends, variety is fun. Glad there are lots of sneaker options now and hope there always will be. At the same time, if something other than sneakers will work for the day and the outfit, I am thrilled. I like having sneaker comfort features integrated into shoes and booties that are on trend. When feet hurt, it is hard to get to the fun.

I think my feet are low volume, so mules should be hard for me to wear. Regardless, I like both mules and sneakers, so I'd go with either. I have my Stan Smiths and silver FitFlops, but the only mules i have are my Turkish house shoes which are pretty crazy, and a pair of mules from the 90s that probably don't cut the mustard now.
