I swore I was gonna wear a dress today. I didn't wear just any old dress mind you, but a snakeskin print fit and flare party dress - to go sit in my cubby hole at the museum and work on my dissertation.

This dress has been sitting in my closet for a couple of years, tags still on, and I was determined to casualize it for every day wear. So under went the usual layers for warmth and black riding boots, and over went husband's big black pullover (yes, I really need to buy one that fits me, as soon as I have an income again). The fabulous purple/pink/black fringed velvet scarf doesn't show up, even though I've got in on in the full length pic, but IRL, it's very noticeable. Also wore my black wool fairy tale coat and some gypsy-ish dangly pearl hoop earrings.

So this whole getup - it amused the heck out of me and I very much enjoyed wearing it. I'm finding that I really like a swishy below the knee dress/skirt worn with boots and a scarf. The whole thing feels vaguely 70s, and that's definitely my spirit decade.

I know it's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but what do you think? Am I out of my mind, or am I actually circling in towards a some sort of a style that suits me? (It did feel rather east meet wild wild west with the riding boots combined with the gypsy elements.)
