Slip on sneakers, what do you think?

This style was part of a list that piperlime has as spring top 10 trend. And yesterday when I was at the mall I saw a couple of styles in Nordstroms. I'm on the fence, can't quite decide how I feel about this style. I'm sort of thinking that its one of these styles that I'm just not used to seeing, but will start to like once i get used to it.
What do you think? Will you be wearing this?

I like them! Annagybe has a pair and she rocks them. I like the Bince Blair 7 and the Via Spiga Galant. The wedge sneaks are also fantastic (Ash Genial Bis wedges with the buckles, I'm looking at you!).

For slip-ons, I live in Toms country ... pretty much everyone has at least one pair. I wear them for bumming around, great with shorts to the beach or with boyfriend jeans for casual shopping. I like them if they are very basic, simple like espadrilles.
I have tried on the wedge sneakers and they don't feel like me. I do have classic converse low-tops that I love, but in the wedge I feel like I am pushing it. Just not a natural look for me.

I have a pair of slip on converse chuck taylors that I really like and they are so easy of course, especially for warm weather.

I don't get the prices. They look like $20 Keds to me. They're cute, but I'd never pay those prices for them.

I like the style, and have since I was a teen in the 70s and slip on Keds was part of a summer uniform. Can't quite make the slip on sneaker style work for me now, but I'd still wear them dressed down if I could (ditto classic espadrilles -- and Toms shred my feet). Agree with Carter, these seem overpriced. I tried a range of wedge sneakers last year when shopping for travel footwear. I found Paul Green to be most comfortable and chic, and many of the Ash styles fun and not too aggressive but not comfy to walk in. Ultimately, agree with Viva -- not a natural style for me.

I do wear Tom's and I have a pair of Converse low tops and a pair of boat shoes so those options cover my casual needs. I think these can be a fab look on others but they don't speak to me for my own style.

Definitely a look from the past, but cute. I agree with Carter that they are way overpriced, but perhaps they are lined or have some feature that's not noticeable in the pictures. I might consider them if I found one in a narrow width that was really comfortable.

I think the key is to get them in something other than plain canvas. Get an interesting texture or fabrication. I really like the leopard Steve Madden ones.

I agree with Anna. I think these in a interesting pattern or fabrication would be fab.

As for pricing, I think it depends how much comfort is built into them. No reason why these shouldn't be dreamy on your feet.

Vans! If you grew up in LA, this is skate style for sure. I own none and don't care for a white side on this style. But I'm all for comfy walkable shoes, so if I found some that were supportive (vans are flat inside), I 'd sure consider them.

Haven't tried toms, for some reason, possibly because I'm not accustom to this style yet.
Anna, thanks for linking to your blog, I think part of my being on the fence about this style, is that I was having a hard time visualizing how they would look with a real outfit. I like how you have styled them.
The ones that I seem to be drawn to are the perforated leather.

I really love them. I've been trying to find a pair that work for me for a while now - Converse don't quite fit on my feet right, sadly, and most other things I find I think the soles are too thick on.

For something like this, I'd probably wait for a $15 pair from Target...I used to live in a couple of pairs of Keds slipons with the "skinnies" of the 80s and I think they were like $5 each. Over $150 for these? Umm...pas pour moi (no pun intended).

Although I haven't worn this Van's style since college, I rarely wear sneakers that actually lace up. I almost always buy sneaks that "buckle" (with elastic under the tongue so one doesn't actually have to buckle them) or have elastic or a no-lace style. I don't know that I'd ty this particular style again unless they had a really interesting fabrication (like Anna's).

Like Clara, I grew up in LA so I totally associate these with skate style. I wore Vans when I was in middle/high school in the early 90's. I think they're a little too sporty for me now but I might consider something in an interesting pattern or fabric. I also tend to find these very flat thick soles to be uncomfortable for my flat feet these days - I can't wear regular cons, for example, although the Hi-Nesses, with their low heel, are OK.

I like those! Especially the ones like the Via Spigas that are almost more like a canvas smoking loafer.

For me, though, I could see myself wearing this style only if they had a very low vamp and somehow avoided the rubbery white sole. (My fears of too much stumpiness or sportiness are strong.)

I love slip-ons, they are especially practical in Canada where some people maintain shoe-free houses year-round. I wore chuck Taylor slip ons for years but got a bit tired of the distressed styling they usually had. Would love to get some more for spring so hoping they do something different. I'm not so crazy about the skater styling, personally.
