Well, once again Zappos delivered in incredibly quick time, and the new sizes of both the Maddens and the Via Spigas arrived this morning. I find it a really good policy to try on shoes at different times of day! Yesterday's try on happened in the afternoon, after I'd been for a run, and today's early in the day before I had been on my feet much.
I'm happy to say that comfort seems to be outstanding in the Via Spigas -- I also decided to try the 8s with an insole to see if I should stick with the original size. The insole definitely helped them fit my feet better. The 7.5 fit perfectly, but once I had the insole in the 8, I started to wonder if I'd prefer the insole version, because the closed shoe might feel a little sweaty in warm weather.
Sizing up in the Maddens was a good move. With an insole, they fit great in a 9. They are slightly stiff and not quite as cushy-comfortable as the VS, but definitely doable on a comfort scale.
So now I'm torn. I love the comfort of the VS, and I think the reptile pattern is really wearable with all kinds of outfits. But I love the Maddens too and think they would be fun with my black and white outfits, as well as looks with solid colors or color blocking. I'm not much of a pattern mixer.
It's possible I'll end up keeping both. I'm leaning heavily towards keeping the VS, although I need to decide on the size dilemma. Fortunately, Zappos has a great 365 day return policy, so I can hang onto the Maddens and see if I start reaching for those as well. I'm uncertain whether I should really keep two pairs of these, since I lean so heavily on sandals in our hot, sticky summer weather, but I really like them both. Hmmmm.....
Here are full-length pics, since Rae asked. Please don't judge the styling -- I just threw the shoes on with what I was wearing to do laundry and straighten up the house this morning (rolled jeans and my stepsons' band tee).
