Slightly narrow shoe - help

Does anyone have little tricks for wearing narrow shoes? I have a few MUST HAVE shoes but the cut is slightly narrow and so the vamp of the shoe cuts into the right and left side of my foot and because I am dark skinned, you can see the delineation between the bottom and upper color of my skin and wind oof there is a solution for this conundrum I have. For some reason I can’t seem to add a picture...

Hi there you won’t be able to add a pic for a few days until you become an “active member”- it requires replying to a few other people’s posts.
But my first thought, I am sorry, is that you have bought shoes that don’t fit properly and that in future you need to pay more attention to the width, and if too narrow, no matter how cute, walk away or return. I speak from bitter experience!

Angie once did a post on this. It has been some time ago. You might try wearing the shoes around the house with damp socks. What has often worked for me is forcing a raw potato in the shoe for a couple of days. I think it is a little bit of moisture that helps the shoe stretch. A cobbler may be able to stretch them for you. Can you return the shoes? That would be the best solution.

I once used damp newspaper, it helped to strech the leather. Raw potato was also a trick that I heard but never tried it!

djabs, if you have the shoes already, you can stretch the leather by walking around in them with wet feet. You might find these posts helpful:

I have had some success with stretching shoes by heating them up inside and out with a blowdryer, then walking around in them while I wear a pair of thick socks. Keep heating the shoes back up when they cool down. It is very uncomfortable walking around this way, but sometimes it works!

You can also take them to a shoe repairman (cobbler) and have him stretch them.

In future, you might consider buying a size up and then adding an insole to take up any extra space.
