Thanks everyone
Suz - to answer your question, I am not sure if the cotton ones are sized differently than the dark denim skirt, but I read through the reviews for the denim, and 2 of the 9 reviewers said to size up in the skirt. I did, and the skirt fits me beautifully. A lot of the skirts in my closet are size 8, and in this one, I ordered a size 10.
I mentioned the cotton (various colours) because it looks like it's the same shape/cut as the denim one I got, and I notice in the reviews for the cotton (colours) there are lots of reviews saying the skirt runs on the small side. I don't yet have a cotton version, but I also happened to notice that the description on these says they are lined. The denim one isn't lined. I'm happy that the denim one isn't lined, as it's intended for mostly summer wear. I do have a short slip I can wear with it in the fall though, if I want to. Just mentioning this for anyone who has a preference for lined or unlined.
Meanwhile, I've been wanting to try the famed Halogen Seamed Pencil skirt in a fun colour, but I already have a number of dressier skirts (albeit in boring neutrals) so I haven't tried it yet. This means I can't offer up any advice as to the difference in sizing between the two. Having said that though - the very first review on the cotton version says size up and specifically mentions it being cut a lot smaller than the seamed pencil style. Most of the reviews say to size up.
This might be good news for anyone who has trouble finding smaller sizes! Plus, if the famed Halogen seamed pencil skirt didn't work out for you - this one might, although it is a more casual skirt. I'd say this one is "smart casual" rather than casual though.
One last thing in case it helps anyone else out - I don't always like tucking things into my jeans, and sometimes I don't have just the right length blouse/top for pants that works with whatever jacket I might want to wear. This denim skirt will solve some of that for me - it'll just be that my version of "smart casual" might involve this slightly dressier-looking denim skirt rather than jeans.
I'm still deciding if I'm going to try one of the stretch cotton versions. I can see the denim being a year-round item, whereas some of the cotton versions look more "summery" to me somehow.
Ok - enough of my rambling on and on.
