Skorts are generally not my thing because most of them stand away stiffly at the upper leg or are too clingy giving me the loincloth look.
If you are like me, I can recommend this Columbia skort. The waist is flat and elastic, not too high in the rise and and the skirt comes in at the bottom giving me a more hour-glass shape. There are adjustable ties on the side; I like the default length just fine and didn’t bother adjusting them. It is gear-y but not obviously so. I noticed it comes in sizes up to 3x.
