I will not buy a skirt if it doesn't go up to the waist (without a separate band of fabric below the waist going up to the waist.) I have never even tried on a skirt that didn't go up to the waist - I've seen how that style looks on other women. I understand that type of skirt is not comfortable and doesn't fit right. Reading the comments on this Web site I see that that type of skirt doesn't stay in place.
If you don't buy that style, and if you contact skirt/suit/pant manufacturers and let them know you want skirts/pants to go up to the waist, that will put some pressure on them. I have hips but several years ago I bought a pair of jeans that came to the top of the hip. They kept slipping down.
Occasionally I luck out and find a pencil skirt that goes up to the waist and grab it. They are showing very, very short skirts that go up to the waist. I think they are trying to ease back to classic skirts. I have met many women who won't buy skirts/pants that end at the hip after one bad experience. It hits the manufacturers at the cash registers and they know it but they're afraid it won't look 'new'. Chanel had an ad last year of two white suits showing the skirts' waists, one had a waistband, the other didn't but also went up to the waist. The ad was specifically designed to show that the skirts went up to the waist. I can't afford Chanel.
