I stopped by Anthro yesterday to make some returns and ended up making some purchases with my mother's birthday coupon. I liked the red-orange color and toile print of the midi skirt -- it has a unicorn hidden in the print! -- and loved the flow of it on. The length is quite long even in petite sizing (shown), although I think with the shorter side lengths it's JFE even in flats? I don't *feel* too stumpy, anyway.
I was about to purchase the skirt when I remembered Angie's constant reminder: don't buy a skirt unless you know exactly what top you're going to wear with it. So I asked the store stylist to find me a top, and she picked out this Cloth & Stone ruffled tank that I would probably have passed over because I like my busy prints and colors. The ruffles, when combined with a slight halter neckline, are surprisingly flattering (doesn't widen my shoulders, draws attention to my nice upper arms from skating). And their signature lyocell material is to-die-for, plus it can go in the machine dryer!
Thank you Angie for reminding us that every skirt needs a top to be friends with Now I have a white top that I love just as much as my new skirt, and the top will go with most of my other semi-orphaned skirts too.
