Angie - settle down - I went back to red:) It's my fallback colour, and was my natural colour as a young girl. Red is so hard to maintain and sometimes I take a break . It fades so quickly. I do love it though. Just got back from the hairstylists - wearing my skirt/leggings - and will post a pic later.

karymk - no stripping involved - just painted the red right on the hair. Roots first for 20 mins then a slightly toned down version through the ends for the last 15 mins. Looks fantastic - really happy I did it. But I have the skin tone and eye colour for it - freckles, greenish eyes, fairish golden skin tone.

Thanks all so much for the hair colour comments. I have to confess the red is my favourite colour too. It' s been my fallback colour for years, and the blonde was sort of an experiment. My daughter calls it the "original mumma". Like she's had some imposter living in her house for a few years

shevia - red pigment is the weakest in terms of fading and lasting ; It's so susceptible to sun, shampoo, you name it. it requires freshening a lot more than other colours .

I think the skirted leggings look great and envy the ability to wear them so well! And I love your new hair! I've enjoyed taking my hair into the auburn territory in the past, but it is tough to maintain the color without it going brassy. Maybe since your natural color is more red, after the underlying blonde grows out, maybe it will be easier for you to maintain?
