UPDATE: Skirted Leggings Arrived!

Well I ordered a pair of skirted leggings from YESSTYLE an online Korean fashion company. I knew it was risky but they weren't pricey and I was feeling adventurous. They arrived this morning and in the bag were not one but two pairs of slightly varying weight and fabrication.

I apologise that I don't have photos, they arrived as I was leaving for work so despite our never ending heat I whipped off my skirt and popped them on. And I am not sure lol. They are small (one size fits all) but they do fit but they sit on the hip not the waist. The skirt is short, I would say the same length as the EF ones sit on Karymk. The fabric is quite ok. Obviously not the standard of EF but not completely cheap and tacky, so on that level I was pleasantly surprised.

I will attempt a proper try on tonight (hopefully it will cool down ) and post some pics and you can help me decide.

I also spotted the ones in #2 with the faux leather panel but clearly sizing is a challenge.

Good luck Deborah - can't wait to see! PS can't wait to see the new haircut, it sounds incredibly fab. But wow, I love the the leather, so cool but is it just a band at the bottom? I wish there was a second front view. But you do find the most amazing things!! The EF leggings sit at the natural waist. Was the lower rise comfortable?

Gryffin, I couldn't assess comfort this morning because it is so hot here and I have hurt my arm which makes even pulling on a pair of pants very challenging Poor me I don't mind pants that sit on the top of the hip so we will see but my preference is on the waist. They are a stretchy tho, not super so but it might be a matter of pulling them on and getting them stretched out and fitting in the right places, if that makes sense I am a bit conflicted because I would love the EF ones but really need to stalk them and see if a sale or an ebay seller has them at a more affordable price. Once you add shipping I would be paying close to $200 and right now I can't justify that.

Yes, the leather is a band on the bottom on the skirt on that second pair.

I think what I really need to do is lobby Metalicus to produce some. I have already been in touch with them

Love those fake leather trim ones. Tried to find them on that website (which is scary) but got distracted by a category called " couples dressing and matching outfits" or something. I never did find the leather trim ones. Can't wait to see you post a pic of both of these. And your hair!

btw - my leather panel ones are supposedly on the DHL truck today, and I'm looking out the window every 5 minutes like a little kid.

Amy you are a genius!! I think I have holiday brain (similar to baby brain). I think mine are going to be too short (the skirt) so I'm going to get my dressmaker to do the leather trim (if I decide they fit). Clever

Are you ready for my update You will note there are no photos for good reason.

Ok popped home at lunch and did proper try on.

In brief:

Both pairs fit, but are not comfortable
Leg length is great
They sit on the hip and I don't think they are meant to
Despite being OSFA, I think they are really and Aus 8 - 10
Fabric is not bad
Skirt appears to be same length at the EF ones

My conclusion:

Not sure why I thought the skirt length would be ok on me!! It's not:) On me, the skirt just doesn't look proportionally correct. I need one that comes at least mid thigh (mid way between hip and knee). So depending on what I find, I may continue to wear my leggings with my above knee straight jersey fitted skirt OR my leggings with my soft seamless Metalicus dress to create the look.

Also, when I quickly checked, most of my tops sit at the same length as the skirt. So for me, it's not so much creating some length for tops that are not long enough for leggings, it's more about creating a look.

In the meantime, I will keep looking locally. For the Aussie girls particularly, I think if we see these in our market place it will initially be stores like Target, Valley Girl and Supre as they tend to jump on these 'fringe' trends quite quickly and produce moderate quality versions. Valley Girl and Supre have provided me with one or two fab Rick Owens-eque garments:)

Interesting! Thanks for posting and sharing. I love the asymmetrical leather ones (big surprise there). I've been eying this short wool skirt from my friend's company and thinking it may work for a similar look. I guess my thought is that leggings attached to skirt are less versatile than two separate pieces - I want to get over this hump but I'm obviously struggling!

I like the skirt a lot. It would look very cool over leggings and is a nice variation on the jersey skirt over leggings.

Sad they didn't work. I agree that we might find them in the shops you mentioned. I'd be interested in trying a pair on as they are so different to anything I've worn that it would be worth a look. I'll keep a lookout as the autumn things come in.

So, all of us Aussies who are interested need to keep an eye out and do an alert post when we find some. I'm with Deborah, can't shell out for the EF without knowing the skirt length would work.

Gryffin, Macys do international shipping but use a third party, when I tried to buy a top recently the shipping was something like AUD $40!!! If anyone ever sees EF on Amazon let us know (I wish, lol).

Wow, Carolbee - the shipping charges are huge. There goes the value of the discount. Just a thought, I wrote to EF customer service with a a question asking what one of the tipsters was wearing that was not listed. If people were really interested in a longer skirt on those EF leggings, if you ping customer service I have a feeling the message does get through. They might come out with something (not cheap of course) but available if they get that feedback. Just a thought. Funny true story of the day, the Tipster Kim was wearing a shear maxi burnout dress from allsaints with all her EF stuff. I thought what a great idea for black tie which I rarely get to go to. I thought it was so funny that they let her use it for the photo shoot and then actually asked her and got back to me.
