I might be getting a skater skirt soon--the high-waisted, short length, circle skirt that is quite youthful. With my casual life, it will work in a lot of environments, and be especially good for the heat.
I had always thought "skater skirt" referred to skateboarding, and I was puzzled, because it seems like a difficult thing to wear while skateboarding. Nevertheless, I thought it was an "alternative" item you might style with Vans sneakers or pink hair.
Finally tonight, looking at scads of them online, I realize it more closely resembles an ice skater's skirt. Which is a totally different vibe--graceful, dancing, spinning. This is what "skater skirt" MUST be referring to.
